SOPA could limit what songs we use in edits

If video hosting sites become more strict with music rights infringement under threat of blacklist we could have a hard time posting edits with our favorite songs.
 
But right now there is not much that can happen to youtube, or any site, if they take a long time to strip the audio or turn a blind eye to what users upload in the first place. They receive a cease and desist and as long as they try their best to keep that unauthorized stuff off their site they are in the clear. SOPA changes that and makes if possible for sites to be blocked if they can't keep up with the deletion of unauthorized content. Youtube probably won't get in trouble because they have the resources to comply, but sites like Vimeo, and I'd imagine NS too, would feel the burden of keeping the site clean. There are a lot of possibilities but the worst case looks scenario is shitty.

Since a bunch of congressional sponsors just withdrew support today this shit is probably squashed anyways.
 
I think NS would be okay because its a canadian website, but US citizens could get blocked...
 
SOPA / PIPA will never pass after today. What content producers don't seem to realize is that they already have more protections for their copyright under DMCA that nearly any other developed nation.
 
That would be an act of communism in my eyes. We should have access to whatever site we want, and ns being a Canadian based site it won't be affected by laws passed by the us congress. Do we would be fine.

Well I do believe that the NDAA also clashes with your precious Constitution and it still passed with flying colours.

Maybe you should read up on what communist ideology stands for, just in case.
 
Not so much the intelligence, but the power and belief in their own ignorant statements.

I should have Used a different word, more of a dictatorship, but if you take a look at communist nations in history they have been dictatorships also, so i generalized.
 
Looking at this now after the MegaUpload bust, I don't think it matters where the website is.

If it's a .com domain, it's under US jurisdiction.

just out of curiosity, how hard would it be to change the domain to something like newschoolers.ca, so it would be out of US jurisdiction
