Soooo... read any good books lately?

I recently read "The Shipping News" by Annie Proulx, really good book, but tough.

before that I finished "The Dharma Bums" by Jack Kerouac which was good.

For English this year i have to read Hamlet and 'Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead' which are both good stories no doubt but tehy are plays which I find pretty boring to read. i also have to read a TON of poetry and analyse it all which I HATE HATE HATE!!!!

Has anyone read "endgame- the problem of civilization" by Derrick Jensen? Its fucken amazing.

I pretty muched cried when I read "shake hands with the devil", Romeo Dalliare is a fucken legend.

Chomsky and Bukowski are also legends. Read some Ward Churchill and "A peoples history of the United states" by Howard Zinn.

One day you'll realize that reading can be vastly more entertaining than writing "seriously? books can suck on my ball sck" on an anonymous online forum. Or you won't, and your first real employer will be appalled when he finds out you read and write at the level of a 7th grader.

Young Men and Fire- Norman Maclean, same guy that wrote A river runs through it, and a bunch of other good short stories.

Fire on the Mountain: the true story of the south canyon fire- great book too, written by Norman Maclean's son. (see above)

One Hundred Years of Solitude is good, as is All the Pretty Horses. These two are books that you should just read because they represent some of the best writing out there and will always be useful to know in social circles, and come up throughout life.

Yeah Chuck Palhuniuk books are dope as fuck... Fight club, survivior, choke, lullaby.. all good shit He is coming out with a new book in May, about some pornstar setting a guiness book world records and getting pounded by 600 dudes, and the book talks about the like 72, 137th, and 600th guy to fuck.. sounds like it will be good haha but yeah books called SNUFF.. look 4 it

Dude, just get the fuck out of the thread if you have a problem with books, its pretty obvious you haven't read any good books lately...so after reading the title of the thread you just decide to come in here and decide to leave a post that have absolutley nothing to do with the thread?

Anyways.

I haven't read to many latley, have been really meaning too...but actually this weekend i'm headed up to barnes and noble to pick up "Apocolypse 2012" ... it is a book about all the conspiraces (spelling?) and theroies and such about December 21 2012 (the day the mayan calender ends, which they call the end of the world) and its just really interesting stuff to read about, all the beliefes of everything so hopefully it turns out good! :)

awww, im so sorry i disturbed your gay ass book thread. You guys should go have a nice little circle jerk while read your books/wasting your time. Besides im about to graduate you should be sucking on my ball sack. Go read some more books fags.

i also find it hilarious that Aenigma is send me threating messages about how i should post here and how he has a small dick. And how his mom sucks on my ball sack

Aenigma - The only book your mom reads is how to go down on me because she was damn good at it.

1. Even though it was ironic and almost hilarious, that post in the book

thread was really unnecessary. Just because you lack the intelligence

to appreciate literature doesn't mean you need to spew moronic

nonesense about it.

2. Did you even read my PM, or are you even more narrow-minded and

arrogant than I had thought? That's great that you choose the path of

illiteracy, burgers won't flip themselves. But it's really unnecessary

to tell other people that they need to go down the same road. Don't

bother adding to that thread if you're going to contribute nothing.

Much love my brotha besides i am your farther.....

Hold on there, champion. First of all, I realize that you have surrounded your skull with five feet of dumbass, so you won't listen to any form of logic. However, let me explain...

1. What's your obsession with sucking on ball sack? A hobby of yours? Perhaps your career path now that you've realized achieving success is virtually impossible when you're too busy talking about fellating scrotums on Newschoolers to learn how to read.

2. You're about to graduate? Congratulations! I did that two years ago! As did 85% of my class! Cookie?

3. Are you honestly saying in the above quoted post that writing things that are completely unnecessary like "gay ass book thread" and "go have a nice little circle jerk" on an anonymous online forum is LESS of a waste of your time than reading? Reading isn't just an escape for social retards, it's actually fun if you find the right books and possess some amount of intelligence.

4. "Go read some more books fags"? I was unaware reading books translated to enjoying a good ass pounding, but you'd better get used to the latter if you're as immature as these posts suggest and you're (supposedly) about to graduate... a story which is sounding less and less likely by the second.

I'm waiting for the "LOL go chu on sum penis fagbot". Or for this thread to get closed. Whatever one comes first.

Tyrone what are you doing with your life man. Obsessively you haven't seen Superbad or you would get the "im about to gradutae you should be sucking on my balls", maybe you should put those books down and go watch the best movie of all time. And by the way she liked it.#Pizoned

alright to start off thats a hilarious part of Superbad, so your dumb. Second i think its funny that you guys keep responding to my ridiculous post. Thrid if you cant take a joke, especially about something that sucks (Reading) then there a problem. And last and finally your mom has huge tits

-peace

If you can't make a joke that's either funny or even really identifiable as a joke then the problem does not lie with us.

omg the problem lies with me and not with you guys. awww what am i gunna do now..., dude your dick is the size of a needle and your moms tits are huge. Go read a book. Ill be skiing. Peace.

wow...i still do not see the point of you being is this thread...i don't believe it was the thread is titled "hilarious superbad quotes" or "books are for fags" or "hey i have nothing to contribute so i'm going to post random nonsense that nobody cares about"

and i myself have watched super bad (and yes its funny) and I too am about to graduate, all i'm trying to say is that if you don't like books then fine, this thread is not for you.

Should've been obvious earlier, he's just an immature little kid looking for attention and trying to act like a badass on the internet because he can't in real life. I'm done responding to him and fueling that bullshit.

Anyone read God isn't Great: How Religion Poisons Everything? Saw it on my friend's desk the other day, title made me want to read it haha.

thanks for sharing. i just read cell by stephen king, a good zombie horror novel that has an original theme, although the zombie part is played. i enjoyed it, but not an extremely high level of reading. good book to kill the time though.

Damn thats cool.

Have you read the "His Dark Materials" trilogy by Phillip Pullman? They are the best.

Favourite recent reads are "A Clockwork Orange" - Anthony Burgess and "Birdsong"- Sebastian Faulks.

As i stated in my first post in this thread, i was hoping to pick up "Apocolypse 2010" by Lawerence E. Joseph...and i finally did yesterday and it really has caught my attention, its pretty much telling me all the ways we can die but its still very interesting...as the title says "An investigation into civilizations end."

I read a lot of different genres but Ive been into non-fiction adventure survival books lately

Jon Krakauer - Into Thin Air and Into the Widl

Joe Simpson - Touching the Void and

Steven Callahan - Adrift

Into thin air is about a tragic mountaineering trip up to everest where 12 of the 6 are killed.

Into the Wild is about Chris McCandless, a kid who sells all possessions and travels the country eventually ending up in Alaska. Terrible summary, but its amazing

Touching the Void - another mountaineering book, two climbers climbing, one gets injured and the other has to make the decision to cut him loose so he can survive. This is a story about how the guy who was cut loose suvives the fall and crawls back to camp and lives

Adrift - lone sailor sailing from africa to south america, boat capsizes and he lives on a life raft alone for 76 days before he is found and rescued.

So I am bring this thread back because I just finished an amazing book. Choke by the guy who wrote fight club.

This book is a fast read and very well written, you should go pick it up.
