So today I got my first day of riding the mountain in. It was all good except for one thing, MY SHINS.

Heres the deal:

I have really thin legs and feet so about 2 weeks ago, I went to a well known shop and got a new pair of boots. They were fitted and it took quite some time so the problem is not fitting. I got a pair of Dalbello Krypton Rampage's and payed a lot for them. Today I go up, and they are no better for my shins than my $50 racing boots from last season. I made sure to do them up snug, but not over tight. There were no jumps, so no backseat landings, just rails. So that's not the problem. I get this odd pain in my shins whenever I wear ski boots. It's about halfway between the top of my boot tongue and where my foot starts. By the end of the day, it's almost unbearable to ski. So what's wrong with me? What can I do about this. It's slowing down my progression as well because I can't go all out.

It could be the socks you wear. If they bunch up at that point, they could put excess pressure on your shins.

but seriously i think cause this happens to me every year its that your legs arent used to putting that much pressure for leaning forward and pressing your shins yet

It could be numerous things. Post a little more info if possible.

Try thinner/thicker socks, booster straps, shin eliminators....there are alot of fixes out there.

Maybe try to swap out some tongues on your boots. But in a softer or stiffer one.

hahahaha that was a legitimate lol. I dunno what to tell you. my friend has relly skinny legs too and gets mad shin bang. he got a booster strapa nd says it helps a bit, but he still gets it a little. i have never had much problem with shin bang, so I dunno myself......

The boots have a booster strap on them already. The shop I bought from guarantees life time fit, so I was thinking about going there and asking them to put more padding in? Might this work?

We are talking about real Booster straps, that have elastic in them. Purely velcro ones don't work, as they are static and don't flex with your leg, while the elastic ones do. Try some of the real ones and get back to us.

I've got really skinny calves and there's excess space even in a Lange cuff. Eliminators and Boosters solved my problems completely.

the first 2 days of the season always suck for your shins but if it doesnt stop try some booster straps, ive heard good things

This is not the case because I bought these 2 weeks ago, and they are actually smaller than the ones I wore all of last year.

dude u would know if u have shin splints u would barely be able to walk

its where your shin bones flake off or splinter and causes you imense pain

Sitting here right now a day after, I'm pusing on the spot where it was hurting while I was skiing and it hurts a little bit, not as much as when I have the boots on though...

at the begining of the year I usually try to kill the nerves with a rolling pin, I am not sure if it helps or not but it makes my shins feel better throughout the season.

bet the doc could tell you y your legs hurt, but i highly doubt that they could tell you how to fix your boots so they dont hurt.
