Soo Sick of Apple's Shit

i've beena mac user all my life and have done quite well defending my mac in front of my pc using friends. however, as of late, i've been becoming increasingly frustrated with this supposed "superior computer". as a result of my frustration, i've come to a few conclusions:

1. macs are only good for looking at porn, editing blogs and perhaps video editing.

2. when you buy a mac, you don't pay for functionality, you pay for style. that is to say, you can buy a pc that is decked out beyond your wildest dreams for a fraction of the price you would pay for a mac of inferior stature.

3. i have found that pc's (when properly maintained and cared for) can do anything and everything macs can do but faster, more efficiently and with less frustration.

come post-secondary, i will hopefully never have to own a mac again as long as i live. the only exception to the afformentioned would be if i decided to retire and buy a computer that is only good for watching porn and editing blogs.
 
PERHAPS??? How about the BEST OS and computer for editing, get a mac pro or a mac book pro and you're fucking set for everything. FCP + 1-2tb of memory and 6+gb of ram = tits. (my dream)
 
i used to use a PC. never had so many problems with a comp ever. got a macbook, and i'll never EVER use a PC again if i can help it. i never realized using a computer could be enjoyable until i destroyed my PC and got a macbook. and yes, once i got my macbook i did take out my pc and run it over in the road with my friend's truck until it was just scrap metal....oh wait...thats what it was all along
 
Macs are great if you dont know much about computers. I mean, they run well, dont have a lot of problems, they do everything you really need to do, and theyre slick.

On the other hand, if you arent into paying outrageous amounts of money for inferior software you will buy a pc, and if build a pc, you certainly wont use their incredibly restrictive OS. The funny thing is the only way you can run most of the programs is by using an incredibly buggy crossover app, that you probably dont even know about considering you bought a mac. Obviously im generalizing, but its fairly true. Then again many regard windows as restrictive, poorly built, and buggy, ie Linux users. Unfortunately, to be a linux user you need to know even more about computers, but I suppose you still arent paying out the ass for your computer~
 
first, OSX is a unix based OS, therefore it is already less restrictive than any microsoft OS, and I have mandriva running on a desktop and it is more user friendly than xp or vista, imho, so actually, linux doesn't require that much knowledge to be used well.
 
oh and if you are very computer literate, I believe chainsaw is more powerful for video and audio production than OSX, but when it comes to user friendly, not so much at all
 
Which is exactly my point...we don't need more of that bullshit. Look how slander takes over all the news airtime and the candidates speech time...I didn't realize the americans we're still into Jerry Springer type TV...
 
did you have any kind of anti spyware or virus protection? firewalls? any protection on your PC? if not that is why it fucked up.

did you download off of limewire? if so then that is also probably a contributing factor.

over all you have to take care of a PC
 
well maybe if i was a computer nerd or comp gamer i would need to "really get into" my computer and tweak it, but i have a life off of my sick apple laptop so that doesnt really matter to me. All that matters to me is a fast running reliable machine where i dont have to spend tons of time "tweaking" the viruses bogging down my comp.
 
well than apple fits you, its the difference between the guy who buys the most reliable car he can ad just runs it. and the guy who buys the old muscle car with its problems but builds it up and maintains it so it can blow past the the other cars.
 
That is actually completely different. Are you trying to say a pc is like a muscle car because you have to buy outdated equiptment or what? That is probably the most retarded analogy i have seen on this website and that is saying something.
 
im saying even though it might not be as stable from the start but can easily be made way better, and also for less money. and i mean easily if you know some what about what you are doing
 
As to the original point of the thread, apples advertising, I don't really understand what you're complaining about. The goal of the commercial is not to provide unbiased information, its to influence your person. I doubt very much you'll see a Wal-Mart commercial saying, "Well...Target is good too, when they're prices are lower we suggest shopping there." While the Apple dood does come off like a pretentious asshole with a trust fund, the humor of the adds is pretty well wrought and definitely attributes to their success of late.

Just dont worry about it so much dude. Anyone who's about to drop at least 2g's on something will go do a little research, and we have a plethora of independent reviews for that. A computer is a computer. Buy what ya like, thats all there is to it.
 
slander eh? im pretty sure thats illigal in which case wouldnt we be hearing about the lawsuits?

also its advertising. the whole fucking point is to make their product look good. what is apple supposed to say, "hey heres a pc they are just as good if not better, but buy a mac". its advertising the whole point is to sell your product. not to mention the fact that mac has a tiny percentage STILL of the computer market.

also to the people saying your ipods broke for no reason. i just dont believe that shit. and even if they did apple replaces shit no problem. they did for me.
 
apple invented the top bar menus. but really this is like a "my dick is bigger than yours arguement". of course different computers will be good at different things.
