Soo How about that strong canadian dollar.

I remember one time when I went to canada I bought something that was like 5 bucks and I paid with an american 10 and i got a canadian 10 back. It was like i got it for free.
 
Yeah i had the same situation in 04, i bought a slirpee(1.50 CAD) and paid with a 20 dollar bill USD and got back like 27 dollars CAD i was pumped.
 
Double edged sword really.

Tourists will be pouring to the states now spedning their money here, stimulating the economy, but we get hsed bad if we go to Canada.

The exchange rate is making me hesitant on ski trips.
 
You won't see a drop in prices of goods in your country.

If you go to other cuntries, you money wil be worth a different amount. If you're canadian, you're money is as powerful as the US dollar, and will go further than it used to.

Also, keep in mind prices of goods in Canada are higher than the US.
 
I remember this one time I was at work, this guy bought $24 worth of beer from me and then handed me a US $100 and got $101 Canadian back. I was like whatthefuck.
 
Yeah it wont really help till you guys get our purchasing power, because I can still buy a porsche about 50k cheaper than CAD, and a book is $15 US and 25 CAD mostly. So while its a sad day for the US, we still have a while to go before life really starts to suck.

But we're headed there.
 
its great for consumers but sucks for foreign investment within canada and also our export business is hurting. there is always a flip side.
 
so I could go to a bank and essentially trade in my canadian dollars, then go to Chapters and buy books with american money, and get them at like 5 bucks off?

 
the problem is that in canada everything has been raised in price. Now that there equal theres still a high canadian price and the dollar isn't worth anything
 
Basically.

It benefits canadians shopping in the states, and hurts americans shopping in Canada.
 
so much for doing a stupidly cheap whistler trip again this year. when we were there last year, the conversion rate jumped from .85 or so to .94 by the time we left, within one week. our country's going down the shitter for sure.
