Sony vx2000 vs Canon GL 2

Yeah but i didn't found any on NS. I tought it would be better to have advice from skiers because i want to shoot freeski with that camera (maybe there is some camera that are better for skiing)

I would try to go HD because that where everything is headed and who doesn't like the look of HD footage. Your budget is like $1000 i'm guessing I would look into a canon hfs100 or any solid state camera in that family. Just my opinion though, you could go SD if you want. My advice is if you go HD make sure your computer can handle the footage so you can edit it.

you could by my DVC30 and use the money you save to get yourself a nice fisheye or wide angle lens

no.

They are different. The vx2000 technically has better imaging specs, but that doesn't make it a better camera. I actually prefer the GL2 over it because they both produce very different images.

For digital/skater look, vx2000 wins. For filmy/grainy images, GL2 wins.

? so its a preference, which is why i said in my opinion......lol

and they will probably both produce the same "type" of video considering you can change the way you want of either of their pictures. and they both run the same frame rate too.....soooo yea

if you want a "filmy" look get the dvx100, it actually can change to 24 fps with progressive mode and 30p and 60i...

haha the reason why I feel they're very different is because the Canon has a muddier image, which is nice for achieving the grainy filmy look. Also, it shoots 30f mode, which interlaces the 60i image differently to mimic a progressive frame rate.

The vx series produces images that are much sharper and more video-ish. Since it only shoots 60i (aside from the useless 15f feature), I found it to be much better for the digi/skater look. You can get much more accurate colors with the VX, whereas the GL2 is a little more chaotic and harder to tame.
