Sony Killing it

Damn, sony has been absolutely killing it lately. Super cool that you can use almost any lens mount, PL, Canon eos or fd, leica M/R, Nikon, m4/3's, so many glass options!

Global shutter is unbelievable in the f55. First cam I know of that uses one. Can't wait for those to make it into all cams!

sony is fucking boss! I cant wait to switch to the fs700.

I feel like i will be in the right camp!

this new camera would be a great investment, Im just not there yet cash wise. The fact that its modular like the reds means you can buy it now and upgrade it over the years. this is huge!

google will explain better than I can, but the rolling shutter artifacts and their problems have become much bitched about because of the DSLR era and all the CMOS used in them have rolling shutters.

globals basically work like an on-off shutter that is instant, and doesn't strobe/travel like the rolling "shutter" does (not a physical thing, but how the sensor refreshes)

to put it simply, instead of gathering and analysing information one line at a time at high speed, It now captures and analyses every single pixel of every line at the same time.

this was not possible before since processors couldnt handle the huge amounts of information at such high speeds.

Not true, During the question process for potential buyers they said that due to the FZ mount Canon EOS lenses won't have Iris or other electronic controls. These cameras are sick, but really they missed in a few key areas still. The RAW module is far to expensive. Not incorporating on board 4K in the F5 was a miss as well. Overall they're awesome, still missed in key areas.

I can see this as a marking flaw, but I don't know why anyone in a professional setting would use EOS glass over cinema primes.

I agree entirely....unfortunately unless you have the rental budget, or a deep enough pocket to buy cinema glass, EF lenses can work pretty well.

But I do think this will cause a problem for some people in the F5 market...maybe not. Anyone getting the F55, i'd assume has the budget for PL glass.

5K EPIC-X Brain- $19,000

5K EPIC-X Monochrome Brain- $20,000

5K EPIC-M Brain- $24,000

5K/4K Scarlet Brain- $7,950

No.

But honestly the rolling shutter problem is something I've never noticed on the MX sensor. And considering it'll now be $25K for the Dragon Epic, that'll have the low light sensitivity everyone is looking for as well as even higher resolution and frame rates. RED just took a huge step forward.
