Sony ECM-CG50 vs Rode Videomic +KK!

I've been looking to improve the sound in my video on my T3i, as audio is 50% of your video. I am now tied between these two the Sony ECM-CG50 and the Rode Video Mic. I have ruled out the VideoMic Pro because of terrible reviews and poor construction for its price. If any one has experience with the Sony mic PLEASE let me know. It looks to me like its built a little nicer then the Rode, but im not sure sound wise because there aren't many reviews online. Thanks NS!

Im mainly read about problems with the crappy plastic and the terrible elastic band type stabilizer. Can you say anything about that?

I haven't encountered any problems with my mic at all. Everything seems well built. The only thing is that if you are like going HAM and shaking this thing, it doesn't have much travel. It has about eh, maybe a half an inch of space the shock mount is holding in place.

I have not used the videomic pro but with the original videomic, the elastic band stabilizers are not durable at all. They get dry and crack which causes them to break quickly.

What? i love my rode videomic pro as well. super crisp and love its size. my friend caught an edge and crashed full on impace with my glidecam with the mic on and the camera didn't hit the ground but it hit him and the mic stayed in one piece just fine. one rubberband popped out but a simple pop back in and i haven't ever had a problem since. plus the gain switch is very handy.

here is a sample i have from just one day of skiing if your interested. its on my 60D.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVDQFihM-Xc

i would recommend it. but like mentioned above, if you are going crazy with it, it might not hold up well but so far for me, skiing and glidecamming around with it works perfect for what i need. the original is slightly cheaper i think too. but as for the sony, i don't know much about it, ive just had good experience with rode products in the past too and thats what sold me really.
