Sony DSR-PD150

Hey NS, figured I'd ask you guys a few questions about a camera I just picked up.

Found this Sony DSR-PD150 for $10 in non-working order. The people at the store couldn't give me specifics on the problem, but for $10 i figured, fuck it.

Does anyone have experience with this camera?

It came without a battery pack. Should I get one first and then try to diagnose the problem?

Do you think it would be wise to send it to an online repair service? If so, any suggestions? How much will this cost me.

Battery pack costs around $30 and I have a budget of around $80 to get it working again.

here it is.

thanks

You best bet would be to send it to sony, but might not be worth it. The pd150 is a vx2100 with xlr inputs, its SD, on tape, meh.

Thanks for the input.

How much do you think it may run me? I was thinking that If I get it up to working condition, I see them going for 800+ on the bay. I can use that to get a 550D and maybe a nice lens

Dont quote me on the exact numbers. but when I was looking at sending my vx21k into sony a few years back it was something like $265 to diagnose the problem and they had an expensive parts list right next to it and they also charge for labour.

So it's not exactly cheap. couple hundred just to find out the problem basicly.

If you have any electrical friends they should be able to figure it out, just power it through a plug or if there isn't one if you're clever you can plug a power supply into the battery slot. Then you'll be more likely to find out the problem, look for a water damage sensor(like a white piece of paper(usually inside the battery slot) it'll be pink if its water damaged). Not sure if this info will be helpful but it might be.
