Sony DSLR A100 or Canon Rebel XT

which one is better? its my first DSLR camera, want to take many ski pics, but also some others (i.e. landscape, closeups)

sony may be an allright camera, i don't know. however, there's something to be said for going with the leading manufactureres of DSLRs (nikon or canon). I would never buy a sony DSLR. there's simply more options elsewhere.

I have to say that i don't know anything about sony dslrs, but i wouldn't fuck around personally.

Nikon AF lenses are limited, AND EXPENSIVE! I know, because i have a nikon dslr. I LOVE the camera itself, and the lenses are amazing...but canon has very similar quality, and cheaper lenses...

i just got a rebel xt today- love it the stock lense is all u need to start out- i bought a wideangle and a battery grip 4 it- amazing

Between the 2 I would say the XT. Sony bought out Minolta (not improving it much). Canon has been making DSLR's alot longer than Sony (even Minolta for that matter). Leave Sony to point and shoots or radios or video stuff.

ya do whatever you can to stay away from the sony. It is junk. The Canon XT is fine, or a D40 from Nikon.

go with the canon. there are so many difrent options with it. You can use so many difrent lenses. I went with the canon xti 10 mp. You can do tons of things with the camera wothout even biying anythign else.
