Something needs to be said

Skiing is great. we all know that and practically live by that. So why do we all shit on each other about our style or skiing preference. Basically what I'm saying is you do you, make skiing diverse like its supposed to be, because its not fun if we all ski the same. It's time we get the variety back into skiing and expand back out into moguls, big mountain, backcountry, etc. I feel like skiing has just gotten to the point where its not about having fun, but who's better than who. I'll probably get shit for this but whatever.

NS'ers are more park oriented. NS'ers like me that don't enjoy park, transition into more all-mountain stuff. There are plenty of skiers in every aspect of the sport... Our point of view makes it seem like everybody is sliding rails all day.

Well I agree, but at the same time all my friends and I criticize eachother a lot about our skiing and it makes us land things cleaner and try harder tricks. That being said, there's pleanty of kids on NS with 645 Karma and that have never even held a glidecam/ can't front swap on a rail that sit online and hate on edits lol. and it makes me lol.

I've never held a glidecam.... I only take off my helmet and use the gopro that is attached to the very top of it to film.

I actually completely agree with you, though I think this extends into all aspects of the sport. We have a long history of racers thinking they're better than everyone, Ski instructors thinking they're the only ones who know how to ski, big mountain guys thinking what they do is the only 'real' skiing.... the list goes on.

Its definitely a mistake though. Whether if you ride rails in the streets, tour the BC, perfect your turns on groomers, slay gates or just getting started on the bunny hill... we're all brothers out there and should respect each other as such.

i find it similar to bikers. most people will give you a wave and respect anything with 2 wheels, but then there's the harley's that think they are too cool for everyone and can't give a sport biker a wave or vice versa. We live in a world ruled by status, and most people are highly opinionated taught that if something isn't in line with their beliefs that it's "wrong". It's funny that's how politics are even. Kinda sad, but that's just how da world is.

It's also a competitive sport. If you are better you get more recognition. Kids want to be like their idols and be sponsored and whatever but in order to do that you gotta be better than the last guy. It's all for fun but sometimes you can't help but look at someone who is the same level as you and probably a homie but think "Fuck that guy" when he throws something you've been working on forever.

Don't base your perception of skiing solely on the NS community. People go out and ski and have a great time all over the mountain every day, then a few select come onto NS and bitch about this and that and then we end up with these "why does everyone hate on everything / let's get back to skiings roots and go all over the mountain not just the park" threads.
