Someone should buy Jibij!

Since Josh is closing it down, if anyone has the money to buy the name and continue his vision I think that would be dope. Just a thought.

OR, how about if anyone was interested, NS members could each give a certain amount of money, and become share holders in Jibij. That way, it would stay afloat, and because all the shareholders, and hence the board of directors were NS members, it would stay legit. I, for one, would be more than happy to invest a bit of cash in such a worthy cause.

Sounds like both of you have business administration/management degrees. I'd be happy to invest with you!

I don't think this would work cuz most people here are 12-18 and don't know that much about shares and stuff, the only way I see this working is for jon olssen to by it.

Is Jibij really closing? Im curious to know how much $ they would need to be floated to stay above the water.
Although, Id imagine that Josh and the boys would have a lot more free time allowing them to travel and ski.

If a pro skier were to buy it, would their sponsors allow them to stock skis, boots, bindings, goggles, helmets, outerwear, etc that they aren't sponsored by? For example if T Hall were to buy it would armada let the store stock rossi, salomon, line, k2, moment, surface, etc skis?

Im sure if tanner bought it outright he could stock anything he wanted. Plus it would be in your best business interest to stock more than just armada.

keeping a store stocked has nothing to do with sponsers. you just need to be a dealer with a certain company and you get their gear at wholesale if you buy enough.

Bryce Philips is a K2 athlete who also owns and runs EVO and evogear.com here in Seattle. He sells all brands at his retail location and through his website. Athlete contracts have to do with representing a product and using that product while doing the sport they are sponsored for. For equipment, that means skiing on said gear and be seen using it. A business venture like his is own deal on the side. In your example, Tanner would theoretically be selling other brands through a retail channel, not using them.

Or a collaboration of 420 members could invest in a shipment of like a couple hundred pounds of some legit nugs and use their combined market knwoledge to turn huge profit and buy Jibij with that.....just a thought

i would most definitely pitch in money to keep that shop running. I like the idea of having like share holders in a joint business endeavor. This is something we should all seriously think about.

I just think that there must be a few members who have some experience in business/management. Someone who could be interested in heading the opperation and keeping this sick shop afloat. Even if we got started keeping the site up or something. That would atleast be a start...

bryce philips is the man. i just got a pair of cbars like 3 weeks ago at evo. it was in the huge sale, and i got all purp with black irid lens for $60.

The cost isn't so much in the business name, but the ongoing costs - inventory holding costs, rent, staffing, electricity, marketing, etc..

Most of the money (and the risk) would be tied up in stock which is where cash flow becomes a vital element many people forget about.

You buy and pay for the stock in advance. Then it sits in the store. And finally you (hopefully) sell it at RRP, pay for your overheads and hopefully make a profit, if not, then sell the stuff close to wholesale price and try again next year. Apply that premise on a huge sale, then add some uncertainty about snow conditions, global demand, changing consumer trends (esp. in our niche) and you have quite a complicated business. Even more difficult to make work.

Sure - Jibij has a great reputation, and some great brand equity which goes along with it. Without Josh, it just wouldn't have worked out the way it did.

So yeah, people could put in some skrill to buy the 'business' - but then what?..Sadly, that is just the tip of the iceberg guys..

No no no... Running a ski shop is about partying and sponsoring all your customers!

Seriously though, I think that the online portion of Jibij could be maintained with the current reputation and customer loyalty. I'm not going to pretend to know much about online business, but I think there would be hope with NS backing.

Sounds like someone's got experience in the field....!possibly a strong candidate for running the show? Hint Hint haha im just kidding...sorta...I just think we should try something to keep the Jibij name alive...Ns should make Jibij stickers for sale or something, that could be cool...
