wow that was actually super cool! I think it would be absolutely awesome to go shooting with that guy creating those images!
 
How he gets plates that huge to work blows my mind. I tried tin types once and I couldn't even get a 6" one to coat evenly and work at all. They look beautiful when done right, though. Watching this has made me research doing dry plates in my 4x5, but I definitely know how frustrating the process can be!
 
It's hard to say, I don't really know much about it. I think you can get the chemicals through Bostick-Sullivan for around $100, and then you just need plates...I think.
 
It is awesome to see what Ian is doing. So much time, effort and frustration behind it. The completed images look fantastic!
 
You might be able to buy the chemicals or raw materials from digitaltruth.com too

They've also got a mass database of developing times for all these different developer and film combos called the massive dev chart. Super helpful.
