Some people are just FUCKING COOL

I don't even care if this isn't thread-worthy, but I think it's awesome and inspiring nonetheless!
My friend, Alex Cairns, has been in a wheel chair for most of his life due to having virtually no muscle growth in his legs. Since he was little, he was an avid biker, but as of the past two or three years, he's taken a serious liking to sit-skiing. I've watched him progress from just learning how to turn in his bucket seat on the bunny hill, to seeing him ski down the Couloir on Blackcomb Mountain this year.
And now, the guy has done what I would have otherwise thought impossible. The other day on the glacier into the Momentum air bag, Alex landed a back flip on his sit ski! Major props to the guy, and I can't wait to see where he is in a couple years from now! Hopefully we'll get some footage out soon!

He has leg braces that help him to walk sometimes with the help of crutches, and he used be able to bike. He'd compete in all of the high school races and come last but finish every race and it's truly unbelievable to see the drive within this guy.

That's rad I love stories when people with disabilities find a way to do stuff they want to do even though it's hard. Mad props to your friend, he is FUCKING COOL

almost 10 years ago, when big sky still had HUGE jumps in the park I watched a sit skier boost the biggest table and stomp the shit out of it. I didn't see anyone else hitting that jump the whole weekend I was there. Dude could straight up shred.

That's sick man! Major props to him!! Does he live in Whistler or rode it last season? cuz i saw a guy that was always near the park and would always do 1s over rollers and that and just made my day, I loved watching him and it was just so inspiring..and he killed it!

That's completely thread worthy, major respect to him for doing what he loves. Love people that do what they want against all odds.

thats pretty damn inspiring! probs to him! it will be so sick when he gets it on snow, cant wait to see the video!

that is rad, props to him. when i was at MHSSC there were some dudes from the US paralympic ski team shredding the park with us. one dude hucked one of the 70+ foot jumps and shredded the rainbow box. it was chill.

THATS SICK.

I THINK A LOT OF PEOPLE WITH CHALLENGES LIKE THAT ARE SO DRIVEN BECAUSE THEY WANT TO MAKE THE BEST OF THEMSELVES.

coincidence? I think not!

Props!!!

Going down the couloir in a sit-ski is just straight up impressive, as is a backflip!

My brother used to teach people how to sit ski (or would at least help them) by tethering behind them. Mad respect to your homie!

That's so great mad props to him! He should get into sit-ski cross like at x-games those guys are incredible. So inspiration what they can do. Great your friend is getting out there and pushing the limits! That's crazy he can do a backie.

Sooo badass. He needs to get together with josh dueck. They can then have sit skier progression. Pretty soon, sit skiing is gonna be so rad because of these two guys, we'll be buying suspension upgrades instead of boots and 1 ski. I really hope sit skiing does progress alot!
