um yeah. Salomon bindings do suck. alot. Matter of fact all standard bindings suck. Looks/Rossis are the best bindings you can slap on a pair of skis. i had the s710s on my 720s, and they would shoot off just pumpin trannies in the pipe and stuff. My looks come off ONLY when they need to, and they only time i hurt myself with um is when i messed a 360 of a pathetically small jump, and my dins were at 10. I was in a big air contest that day, and i was on the way back down, so they were pretty tight.

Here what i have learned about Salomon and Rossi/look bindings in the last few weeks.

The reason that so many of us have problems with salomon bindings is whats called horizontal travel. you can think of it as the heelpiece of the binding sliding back on a track. Salomon have lost of horizontal travel (i believe 45 mm on most models) This means that the binding can travel 45 mm back. Disadvatage being that in an upward releasing fall, (say landing switch, and over the tips of your skis) your gonna pop out no matter what you got you din at, its just how the binding is constructed.

Now a rossi/look binding is very differant. It has whats called vertical heel travel. This means that the binding goes upwards. On a rossi/look they go up 35mm before they release. This is da shit cause on switch landings, you will hold in. This is because the din spring is holding you in, not forward pressure. Im not saying that salomon bindings are bad, in fact they are one of the best, just there disign is not beifitial for jumping and landing switch.

I am 180 lbs, 6'1', type 3 skier with a 325mm sole lenth. by the chart, i should be riding an 8.5 din. Now i know alot of you like to fuck with your din settings alot, and i think thats just about the dumbest things you can do. By turning your bindings up, you taking liability into your own hands. when a shop technition sets you bindings, leave them at that setting for a few reasons. First off, it will help you, releasing is not nessasarily a bad thing, its better to have your ski pop of, then break your leg. Secondly, by changing the binding setting, you are releasing the shop and the binding cmpany off all liablity, which means that in a case of a true fall, and say you were to break you leg, if you had your bindings set at the correct setting, then you would have a case in court and more then likly the binding company would settle buy paying your hospital fees and other fees. now if you changed you settings, now you got a busted up leg, and no money.

I can ride a 7 din on any rossi/look and not have any problems. Yet on a salomon i got to ride at least a 10 to feel in there good. There is no reason to crank them up above that. if you are having problems with your bindings poping off, the go to a shop and get a release check done. there are many things that can go wrong with a binding, springs can freeze up, AFD's can break, so just get it done. I have seen way to many kids blow out there knees, and break there legs cause they thought that they were hotshots buy cranking up there din.

Ahh, thats enough for now my hands are hurting from typing.

its salomon you dumb prick. its a french company that is owned by the super corporation adidas.

its an image, not a product.

as for the last person that posted all the technical date. thank you very much for posting real stuff supported by facts and not by 'well these bindings are cool because yo this guy rides em'.

THANK YOU

i ride the p912 Ti lots of $ money binding what have u and i think they're great! altho preferably i would like to have looks on my boards i basically don't have a choice seeing as how if u ride Salomon boards (as i do) and if u ride salomon bindings the 2 warranties of the skis and bindings compliment each other which increases the warranty of the ski to a whooping 5 years. now i know that i don't pussy foot on my skis and never will so thats y i'll be lucky if my skis last me 2 seasons. so if u got salomon skis get a salomon binding if not go with a look or rossi binding.

I tried to save a little money by getting the S810 instead of the 912. i couldnt even land in the pipe and keep my skiis on with the factory settings. i cranked them just a little and havnt had any problems yet but im a little worried

i bought some LOOK Pivot 10's (i think thats what theyre called) are they any good? The dsi is set to 8, how does that sound? I dont know much about the technical side of skiing. Thanks.

yes your new p10s are very good bindings.

There is no way for anyone to tell you if your din setting is set correctly unless you include some more info.
