Soju?

Anyone know anything about Soju? It is a Korean beverage. I have never tried it. Limited selection around here. Most prevalent seems to be Jinro.

My old boss was Korean and we drank it with some Korean beers after work on the weekends, gets you shitty pretty quick.

This.

They used to (probably still do) make cocktails with it for restaurants and clubs that can't or haven't yet obtained a full bar license since soju is basically wine.

Anyone do the Soju beer mix? Think it’s any better than the vodka/beer that [tag=225125]@Lonely[/tag] mixed up?

Doubt it. Hamms and fleishmans or keystone ice and vodka are two killer mixes

I'm gonna go ahead and doubt that one...

although I've never tried it so you could be on to something

It's rice juice. The grape flavor is only ok.

I liked it a lot, but I was pretty drunk at the time. When you do try it though, make sure to firmly press a stainless steel chopstick in your glass and whack it with your spoon before drinking it.

I saw videos with people whacking their stir stick. Some people were whacking their spoon pretty hard right into the bottom of the glass which seems risky. Guy narrarating the video said something about making it taste softer. Looked pretty cool too

In Korea you never really know though, sometimes it's super strong. Always dirt cheap.

I was stationed in Korea for a year and my roommate was an alcoholic. I had to drag her back home many nights. She would get so stupid drunk on soju and beer (never mixed them though) You would see people down several drinks of soju and it would seem like nothing is happening. Then it would hit Hard suddenly. I'm not much of a drinker. The couple that I've tried tasted like drinking gasoline. I dont remember what brand they were though. Thats probably why it was always mixed with something. The drinks my roommate guzzled down were always a pink fruity variety. The next morning for PT you could smell kimchi and the alcohol sweating from the pores of the Koreans that were part of our unit.
