Soft vs. Stiff

I was wondering what type of ski people prefer in the park. Do you guys like your skis stiffer or softer for rails and jumps?

I do mostly rails so i like soft. If i were like 65% rails and 35% jumps id go medium. If i was like 40% rails and 60% jumps id go with either a medium or stiff ski

ive had a pair of super stiff skis for the past 2 seasons and have hated them! super stoked to be riding a more buttery ski this year

I fucking hate jumps so I'd take a soft ski any day. My skis are way too stiff for me. My next park ski will be softer so I can play around more!

If youre gonna be hitting jumps and charging though def stiffer skis. Or you can get the best of both worlds with a ski that has a stiff underfoot with a soft tip/tail.

had the same problem as you, just bought da nollies

I like a medium-stiff or full stiff ski in park. I love the stability and control you get with stiffer park skis, just makes me feel like I can go bigger and faster without having to worry about washing out.

In my opinion the AR7 has the best flex of any park ski. Medium-stiff in the tail, stiff underfoot, and soft-medium in the nose.

Fischer Nightsticks also have a great flex, stiff and super poppy.

Goldilocks ski. Too soft and the ski washes out and has no pop or liveliness. Too stiff and the ski doesn't like to break out of turns (likes to get stuck in refrozen ruts) and bridges badly (loss of underfoot contact) when skiing over dips and steep ramps.

I like the rossi scratches because they have the perfect medium flex for me. That being said a stiff ski to a lightweight skier can be a noodle to a larger skier.

Why not both?

I'm going to hop on the Aldente /Edollo Bandwagon real hard.

Super soft tip which is super fun for buttering and pressing. Rock soild flex under foot to keep you from washing out when landing switch. This also provides a lot of power for all mountian skiing. Medium flex tail that is fully cambered which deliver maximum pop.

98mm underfoot with a 20.5meter turning radius at a 178cm. Turns well, behaves well all round the mountain, and absolutely kills it in the park.

end rant

The rocker profile on the al dente is great and makes it a very versitle all mountain ski at low speeds. However I would be hard pressed to call that ski rock solid under foot as I personally fount it to be a little unpredictable in icy/hard chop conditions.Although this is coming from the guy who has been on volkl walls and Salomon nfx 's for the past few years so my opinion may be a bit biased.

Any freestyle ski will be a wild time in those conditions. In hard crud, I found it very hard to keep my AR7's on the snow because they would attempt to go airborne after every bump. That ski is significantly stiffer than an Aldente. Where did you have your Aldente/Edolo mounted? I was advised from mounting at dead center because the ski would ski like crap due to the directional profile. I have mine mounted -1.5 from center and I have found that they drive very well for a soft park ski.
