Soft Boots

I am thinking of getting a pair of soft boots but i heard that they have impaired performance for advanced skiers, what do you think

Not happy, Jan!!!

depends, the ones I bought are quite soft, well have a high flex and I love them. Skied one the same model last year and I loved them aye. They weren't so ridgid and were more comfortable. I did notice a small difference when I was skiing super aggressivley and throwing real hard core tight carves that they were a little soft but it didn't worry me in the slightest aye, if you can, try them out first aye but it should be sweet.

like the acutal soft boots? or just softer flexing boots? Ive heard that they aren't bad, and even preferable, for free riding. Greg Lambert (Rossi, Stifle rider) was riding them at a slopestyle and said they were his prefered boot, but that they sucked for big mountain type shit, you know, real skiing.

get a pair of raichle flexons. soft, but just prefect for everything. they are the best boots i have ever had, and i know like a hundred other people who will never ski on another boot.

I have not rode in softboots, but I have heard things about them. I have heard, good, and bad. If shin-bang is a problem for you, then i suggest getting them. But if it's not, I would say just got the 1080 boots. The 1080 boots are good everywhere.

Yea 1080's I find are a really good boot...but I can't really comment seen as my last boots were 6 or 7 year old rossignols which were too big for me.

But I love my 1080's... perhaps a bit of an effort in big mtn, but alround a good boot.

What gravity?

yeah but i have the same problem with langes as i do with rossis, too low volume, really uncomfortable

ive heard the transfer is really nice. its got selectors to make it either really soft, or stiff for raceing, etc... dont the lange concept jib if youve got wide feet, theyre so freakin narrow

i love my nordica grand prix xr boots...high flex, so stiff enough for all my powder/backcountry needs...but they fit so well that i dont get shinbang...pretty good for a boot with flex 110

in case anyone's wondering race boots are like 140 and the 1080's (which i think are way too soft for anything other than park) are like 30-40

yea, the flex on the 1080 boots is 75. read up on your 411 pocket rocket

you know what's odd... the 1080 boots have a flex or 75. my salomon boots with an adjustable flex goes from 75-65.... gotta love low end boots.

yeah the 1080s are 75, but being that i have skied for 13 years, raced for 5 of those i can still rip all mountain with them

why wouldn't you be able to rip all-mountain with 1080s, you just don't have to suck.

I have been looking for a review on the K. rails. What is that new softboot for 2003 season where u pull up on a cable and it tighten the boot. I heard those will be good. I think it is solomon or dolomite.

representing the few and proud clique of black newschool skiers. trying to do it real big up in Va where the snowfall is small and 180's will get u attention.

sorry, so i was off on the flex of the 1080's but they're still damn soft...i dont see how you can ski deep pow on steap exposed lines and feel like you have total controll....in no way am i saying you need race flex boots, but i think you need more than the 1080s...they're okay for some off-piste stuff, but not much
