Ok, lets grab a dictionary on this one:

soda: a refreshment made with flavored carbonated water and ice cream, usually served in a tall glass. Also see ‘Tonic’

Pop: North American Carbonated drink, usually sweet and flavored with fruit.

Does this solve your little argument?? last time I checked ice cream didn’t come in a coke can. Or does it?
