Soccer Goalkeepers

So soccer is starting in about three weeks, and my cleats are falling apart at the toe. They're kelme masters. So anyway I was just wondering if there are any goalies out and what cleats you guys would recommend. We play in Montana so I don't want any soft ground. Any help would be appreciated.
 
just get like 50 dollar pair of adidas or nikes, the cleats really won't matter that much for goalie. i played for 1/2 a season and i just kept my same cleats from forward.
 
wrong. real goalkeeper cleats have studs on the heel that are slightly longer than those in the front. they're designed to keep in a position in which you are constantly on your toes, and thus you are able to move better around the net.
 
I play keeper and its all preference on which type of cleat to use. Some guys use a goalie specific cleat (6 stud, stiffer on top, laces are covered) while others use a more normal type of cleat. I personally use adidas predators with either metal or plastic studs depending on the conditions. I just don't like the way keeper specific cleats fit, they are usually pretty uncomfrontable, atleast for me. I would recommend to go down to your local soccer shop and see what they have, try on a few pairs. And one last thing, don't buy a cheap cleat, go atleast 100 dollars but if you can spend more. There is a huge difference between a 50 dollar boot and a 200 dollar one.
 
There obviously is a difference in the low end and high end cleats, but if you are a goalie it isn't necessary to have the most expensive shoe. Just go with what feels right when you try some on, it really isn't that importnat if you are a goalie. Get a cleat that fits your foot

yeah i liked the kelmes alot because they were very comfortable..and i guess it doesn't really matter if they last long since i'm going to be a senior and this is my last season. i'm not going to get any keeper specific cleats...i know sondico made some but i don't think they have them anymore. thanks for the advice.

can we make a cult for ns goalkeepers? i wanna know morea bout different types of gloves.

ive only ussed a few pairs. sells sports are real sick, and even though they arent finger saves i really liked the grip 3s (nike). my friend just bouight uhlsports, and he loves them.

lanzeras has a pair thats about 120$ and comes with 50$ practice pair for free, and the other gloves are prob worth the 120 alone.

does anyone know about the new nike gunn cutts? they look pretty perfect for my type of play

Cleats weren't a big issue when I used to play. Same thing for my sister as far as I know and she plays for the Univerisity of Michigan. I loved my old predators, and copa mundials were good as well. I would definately get a good pair of cleats, don't settle for $50 sports authority/wal mart cleats. And I don't know how much it rains in montana, but my soft ground cleats were so important. It sucks to slip in mud and miss a save. Screw ins can kinda hurt, but molded soft ground cleats are just as good. Also, check out outlet stores if your on a budget. I found some old predators ($170 cleats) for $18. It was too bad they were size 7 though.

As for gloves. I used to use adidas fingersaves, and they worked for me except they were a little stiff. reusch ortho tex are good too.
 
how bout other position players? i want to get the gold and white legends where its just gold on the nike sign but i heard that they were made in limited quantities...anybody kno if thats true?
 
i fucking loved my legends, absolutely no break-in time, i bought em and wore em at camp the next day for a week then maybe 3-4 days off and i went to another camp. no blisters whatsoever and the touch is amazing.

and despite what everyone says about being a keeper and not needing the highest end or never using your feet, thats bullshit, youre still a soccer player arent you and still have to take goal kicks, punts, or drop kicks right? its all about your level of play, if its premier/select/college level, then you want the highest end stuff. if youre only in it for recreational purposes or a local travel team, then get what's comfortable and good for your price range. same goes w/ gloves. here's a good website for you www.soccer.com it has absolutely everything related to the game of soccer. and dont hesitate to request a keepersport catalog when you get onto that website. its good shit.
 
i love my air zoom total 90's from a couple years back... but i'm a defender...

I was kinda pissed when my father randomly bought me some Kelmes for indoor, but to be honest, they are the best soccer "cleats" I've ever used. I used to rip through a couple pairs of cleats a season, but these lasted me a full 2 long seasons. They were wicked comfy right out of the box and kept getting better. They are now kinda trashed because I started to use them for everything. They're so comfy I take them mountain biking, cliff jumping, everything. They are also kick ass for soccer. Awesome control, light, great general feel. All the bad shit i heard about Kelmes was proven completely wrong by these shoes.
