I pretty much only go to summit. This past weekend the setup was:

Damn that's righteous! How are lift lines at Summit? I don't have a problem with blasting through features at Bear, but the lift lines are out of this world sometimes

To whichever of you shouted out my NS sticker up top of Mammoth on Saturday, fuck yeah dude. I’m glad there’s still dumbasses like us who live the Newschool life.

There is a non-zero percent chance that was me, we were up there the weekend before xmas and I'll usually say what up when I see NS stickers. Where on the mountain was this?

On that note, someone was lapping main park at Bear yesterday afternoon. Black helmet white NS sticker right side, who was it? Just curious.

Wasn't me but I was lapping the park a bit, and hiking the contest setup towards the end of the day there!

solid point hahaha. You can usually find me in either a blue crew neck or grey hoodie, black helmet black gogs, adidas bib, now skiing on 2022 K2 reckoner 102, also snowboard at bear quite a bit too

I ride reddish icelantic nomads and mossy log vishnus.

usually wearing a green deftones patch hoodie or like this vintage jacket with this like weird fur on it

Anyone heading to Mammorh this weekend? I’ll be up there, may do a day at June to switch it up.

thinking of night riding summit this friday, motel for the night, then skiing bear saturday to try and beat the crowds for parking. Mammoth next weekend

Anyone hitting bear tomorrow? Going up with some homies

I'll be up there with Damian, ( I think he's Mr. Mitten??) but heading to Summit at least to start.

If anyones in Mammoth for the Grand Prix. Look for my dumbass rocking an NS sticker and riding Deathwish’s.

Yo guys, if anyone is into Mountain Biking, there's going to be a pretty cool movie showing at the Fox Headquarters in Irvine this Friday night. Should be a cool event. PM me if you're interested and I can hook up tickets!

I think I’m gonna stay in bear for another week, I took a heavy slam today and I really don’t want to finish on a sour note. Who’s gonna be up from Monday-next Sunday?

Has anybody ever tried or was ever curious if there are any street spots in big bear. It sounds wack i know they dont get snow like other states do but I have a bear/summit pass for next year but I was kinda curious when it dumps if the town has any spots.

Hey guys this kinda off topic a bit but has anything heard any updates from divertsesseions? If u don’t know what that is it is a company that is trying to get a dry slope here in socal. I went to their pop up location in Santa Ana when it was open and had a blast. They since closed down due to Covid last summer and said they were gonna try to open their permanent location but have been radio silent for a while now. I believe this is such an amazing opportunity for us socal people to keep our shills pu and learn more tricks during summer. They got an insta u should check them out

Yes bring that over to AZ too so we can hit park in the 115 desert heat

Question for the fellas who frequent Bear/Snow Summit/Mt. Baldy (if anyone goes there)

Bear's setup looks great but is there much of anything challenging outside of the park? I'll be moving down to Carlsbad from the Tahoe area in November for work, Mammoth rules but 12 hours every weekend probably isn't going to happen.

If you're used to skiing Tahoe... No. I've heard of some good Sidecountry and touring around the area, but nothing inbounds worth mentioning. The snow is rarely worth skiing outside the park anyways, maybe 2-3 good snow days a year. Other than that just sunny park laps, or maching down groomers is the most fun to be had.

I personally like Snow Summit a lot better than Bear. There's a bit more terrain, and better vibes in my opinion.

What's bringing you down to Carlsbad?

Gotcha, thanks dude! Been up here for 3 years, originally from Buffalo, NY. I assume the Ikon works at Snow Summit too?

I work in sales, soon to be covering Orange/San Diego/Riverside & Imperial counties. Carlsbad seemed like a great spot when I was driving around the area. No signed lease as of yet though so I'm still taking suggestions.

Yeah, IKON works at both, they're both part of the Big Bear Mountain Resort.https://www.bigbearmountainresort.com/

I'm from upstate NY too, Niskayuna. Carlsbad is pretty sick, but I'd recommend checking out San Clemente. Especially if you surf or Mountain Bike, or plan to learn.

Ayyy love SC I’m from forester ranch, dog park is super fun for Mtb if ur into that, there’s a little jump line called mansions which is located basically on the border of San Juan and SC with other trails surrounding it that I hit everyday.

Mammoth is opening November 11th... I'm planning on going up for opening weekend. Anyone else gonna be up there?

Looks like they might get some natural snow tonight tomorrow...

October 31, 2022

2:20PM 11-1-22 Bullet Points..

Models have come in slightly wetter this afternoon. Not that it will make a big difference.

Snowfall should start around 5:00PM in Mammoth

Longer range has the Euro with an IVT plume into our area, IVT 300kg ((ms)) (small) but respectable AR Sunday, while the GFS it Monday AM. Still a long way off. But there is potential of a good base building storm!

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Happy All Hallows Eve! The Tricker Treaters should have no Ice to deal with this year. So pleasant strolling on the streets of the Trails……Although it will be a bit breezy. Tomorrow, All Saints day, will be quite windy in town with advisory level winds especially later in the afternoon. Snowfall amounts are expected to be 6 to 9 inches over the upper elevations and some 4 to 6 inches in town by Wednesday Evening. The storm is a quick mover with modest over water TRJ for the Central Sierra, especially Southern Mono County. Then next week will be quite fun to see what develops. The Models bring in a storm with the upper jet more to the north of us. But at this juncture, this far out, no one should take a stab at this one yet! Here are two interesting points about this upcoming pattern change for next week:

The MJO will be Phase 7/8 in the west central pacific. The teleconnections from the ECMWF in both Deterministic and Ensemble runs show an impressive -EPO. This is the Eastern Pacific Oscillation. It tends to suppress the upper jet to the south. It is closed a high pressure aloft over AK. The issue is, the teleconnection coincides with the RMM phase space 7/8 as suggested for this time frame around the 7th into the following week.

This also suggests the possibility of the development of an Atmospheric River(s) for the west coast. Most likely in the Pacific NW but quite possibly for Northern CA and somewhat less for the Central Sierra.

This is just something to watch this week by keeping a weary eye on the Global Models mid-week into the following weekend. Will update later this week….. Dr Howard the Dweebs…………………………..:-)

Curious how mammoth was last weekend? Will be there next weekend!

About 6 jib features top of main, maybe 12 in lower main. They had the medium jump built but the knuckle wasn't dialed. Best early season setup I've seen.

Pretty good for this time of year, four rails up top, 15’ table, 7 rails below and two walls. And then all these weird volcano features I’m not fond of. Lots of the mountain was open. Would be nice if they would open 22 and 23.

Fun first day at Bear yesterday. Jumps are on the very small side but great to do some spins and hit rails all day. Just one run open aside from the bunny hill, but lift lines were moving pretty damn quick for opening day so no complaints there. Congestion is an issue but not nearly as bad as mid season weekends.

Cool might try and ride bear/snow summit on Sunday. How big are the jumps like 8’?

hard to say honestly, but they're pretty small. the first one is the biggest, and it's a solid little step down. I was able to sneak a couple 5's off it but that's probably the biggest I'd go. Other two are very small

Honestly that sounds perfect. I want to learn switch rodeos.

Headed up to bear and summit today solo if anyone is up there and trying to catch some laps! might stick around for a bit of tomorrow as well

Anyone hit Bear in the past week? Might head up this Saturday/Sunday if the conditions are decent. Really just looking for fast groomers and small jibs...

I have been going to summit the last couple of weekends but last Saturday I hit bear for the first half of the day. Morning conditions were pretty groomed but almost ice. it seemed it was getting better but it got so packed we went to summit. theres more jib features and jumps then summit but fewer rails. Its either a small feature or its fat not much in between

Am i the only park skier at bear? I know i’m not actually the only one but damn it’s a rare sight to see someone who looks like they know how to ski. I have a comp next weekend and i have no clue how there’s one at all when i never see skiers here. If there is anyone out there hmu
