I'll be skiing Bear/Summit by myself most Saturdays this winter, so hit me up anytime you guys want to meet up.

I live out in Colorado however I’m for sure gonna try and make it to Cali this year! I wanna do what all Cali locals do and “Just get with it man”

Rename it like southwest region or something lol I’m in AZ and ski snowbowl but 5 hours from SD and I’m there semi often

The midweek is what, $450?

an ikon with student discount is 560.

I think it’s worth it.

It's less about the $$$ and more about how the winter will pan out because of lockdowns. Looks like my best bet will be Bear midweek and then buy next year's Ikon in spring :)

Heading up to Mammoth for opening day on the 29th and 30th. Shredding the white ribbon of death... Anyone else going to be up there?

PM'd... hit me up on Saturday.

Jumping in this thread. I live in San Clemente and mainly ski Mammoth but hit Bear once a month. I’d be stoked to ride with some NS’ers. Anyone surf?

Yo I’m jealous that u guys are gonna shred this weekend! I’m in San Clemente also

I’m out of town til Nov 15 but then I’m hitting this season hard af.

Put me on the list of people in the socal region who will be (for better or for worse) be making weekend trips to Bear/Summit as well as monthly Mammoth runs.

Ahoy lads! Getting stoked on the season and just pulled trigger on some new sticks. Was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on where to get them mounted and potentially detuned near San Clemente. Any and all recommendations are appreciated!

Honestly, I just get skis mounted in Mammoth. Footloose or Mammoth Mountaineering if it’s touring.

I’ve had okay luck at REI tustin, but have also heard horror stories about them.

Phil’s in Costa Mesa is another option, never had skis mounted there, but I’ve demoed skis and I like the crew there.

Yea, echoing what [tag=10872]@steve0[/tag] said, you would be solid with Phil's in Costa Mesa.

I had REI in Tustin mount my skis in a pinch and they mounted them wrong, ended up being a whole thing. They made it right in the long run but if you are mounting anywhere besides recommended either get them done in Mammoth or consider going to Phil's in CM.

Y’all gonna go to bear next weekend if it opens?

Are they saying the might open next weekend. Last time I checked the cams look like they had no snow at all

When I checked on Tuesday it looked like they had managed to blow a solid base for a few runs. I am sure itll be crazy until we get some snow down here. We're going to take a stab at Mammoth next weekend. Good luck if you're going to try BB/SS!

Anyone been up to Mammoth yet? I was thinking about trying to find something to tour on around Lake Mary if the coverage is there.

Just got the e-mail they're opening this weekend. I'll be going up to Summit on Saturday early.

Skiing is fun no matter how shitty the conditions!

I'll be there this weekend and I can let you know. It does not look like they have any coverage, they are blowing snow in order to stay open at the moment. Fingers crossed for that storm to come thru that has been perpetually 2 weeks away for the last month now...

Im gonna be up there Friday! So stoked to be back on the twigs, conditions may not be good but skiing is skiing I guess lol. Anyone else gonna be there Friday?

Also it seems like they are adding a couple features at Bear. Does anyone know anything about if summit will have any? Looking at the cams it looks like summit has a bit more snow than bear but I’m not sure on that

Clips from bear's instagram looked fun as hell. Kind of assuming Summit doesn't have any features given their instagram posts. Thinking I'll find myself riding Bear tomorrow

Just saw the Opensnow post about the Sierras getting some snow finally. Looks like next week will cool off and some precip is headed our way! Not sure what that means for BB/SS but at least Mammoth will get some

Yo, I just went to bear today and honestly the features are fire, for what they have open it’s sick, they have a bunch of boxes and rails but no jumps which makes sense due to the snow but overall u will have a good time

Day One for me gonna be next Friday the 10th, so this is good news!

Did anyone head up today? Wondering how the setup is and what the crowds are like.

Went up yesterday! As previously mentioned some super fun features. The run is an absolute nightmare with congestion and people, but once you get to the more open areas with features it’s so damn fun

Here comes the cold and the wet!

I am sooo distracted at work, not getting anything done, just checking the Mammoth webcams ever 4 minutes.

Looks like Bear/Summit should get some attention next week when the larger moisture front moves thru.

STOKED!

Heading up to mammoth Friday night for the weekend! Pumped to ski some natural snow!

Have a good time, fingers crossed that next wave blows in early and you get "stuck" in Mammoth!

Holy smokes Mammoth was all-time last weekend, get up there before the Ikon pass blacks out for the holiday if you can!

Jesus the parking situation today was so trash

Dude it's always so shitty. That town can't handle the traffic on a busy ski day. But after sitting in traffic and walking a mile because fuck that shuttle line... westridge park at summit was perfect and uncrowded.

Are summit parks on the weekends the call? the hoards at Bear make it almost unenjoyable to lap because it's so congested and kook'd out

To whichever of you shouted out my NS sticker up top of Mammoth on Saturday, fuck yeah dude. I’m glad there’s still dumbasses like us who live the Newschool life.

I pretty much only go to summit. This past weekend the setup was:

5ft kicker

3 small trapezoid quarterpipe things

urban 12" down tube

5ft stepup/ 5 ft stepdown table thing

12" flat - down tube

15ft super fun kicker

flat barrel/tank thing

8' kicker

Never had to wait at features, lapped the whole thing all afternoon.
