just an idea for a tv show that i think would be pretty cool. like a bunch of skiers come out and have it set up like american idol where the judges pick the good ones and then everyweek they go to a different mountain and each throw down a slopestyle run and then america votes and people get eliminated every week. then the winner gets a contract with a big company or something. good idea?
 
ehhhhh i see what your sayin but it wont work. good idea tho. maybe scaled down to an NS online contest it would be sick
 
I this it's a great idea but like above it wouldn't work on that large of a scale but i like the NS contest idea
 
it will work....but it would be only interesting if they were superpark features that were designed for to fall off of it would add some comedy if their were huge diggers by the contestants
 
there is already somehting likethis, ski pig. but that is like pros i think, and one gets eliminated when they get to PIG. but if you did it for am's with no sponsors or hook ups or anything it might be owrthwhile and more interesting.
 
that's a sick idea, but in fact i'm not sure a lot of people would watch it. For sure every skier would watch it but it woulnd't be worlwide as the other shows but if it could happen I would be really stoked
 
there is a ski channel on freezone its kinda shit some stuff sucks people would watch it there but not everybody has cox cable
 
What we should do is have a qualifying round where you get to film one trick to qualify and then judges can choose people to go on and every week there can be one trick per person and NS votes for people to move on to the next round.
 
I kinda want to judge lol haha. But it would only have to be one trick per person because an whole edit would be way to much.

Or like Have a video contest and they have to be summited by a certain time. And it has to be like two jumps and two rails and then top like 10 have to make a 2 minutes edit and then randomly choose 5 regularly users to be judges and pick the winners. and the judges have to explain why and say pros and cons to make it fair. Something like that would be sick.
 
^yeah i like the idea of a video contest then people vote on the editstalk to a mod or something get them too chip in a prize sticker pack or something
 
yeah that would be awesome, we should just organize that right now within this thread, pick some judges, and have everybody pm their best trick to the judges. but it wouldnt be for a while because not everybody mountains open and not everyone can get a shot of their trick

I'm actually stoked on it. It'll be sick to see a comp to do with members instead of pros and see all the sick talent on here. But the one thing i think is that the judges have to write atleast, three reasons why they liked the trick, but for every two cons/pros there has to be one oposing point. So there's reasons why this trick was highly scored or lowly. Not just because they like that person. This way we can have a legit fair comp. That might have sounded better in my head. And also, The judging must be judged around difficulty, style, originality, and capabilities. (because lots of people would just judge it one difficulty and not care it was hack as shit.) we need something judged all around not on one section of thus executed trick.
 
this would be sooooo sick. but i guarantee that it would end up being a snowboarder thing... more of the audience this would be geared towards snowboards... im just saying id love that shit for skiing...
 
yeah macmahoon said we can do the newschoolers contest. wed do the first round and then the site would jump into the later rounds. so who wants to be a judge?
 
exactly, only us skier knows what a really technical trick is and there are many more difficult things than dub fronts.
 
Ok so i think that the contest is going to be a GO. were gonna wait for ski season to get in full swing, then post up a new sticky thread where you guys can post your videos to be judged.
 
Fuck it sponsor a TV Show! Make it worldwide! More people will start skiing and realize that it is the greatest sport ever. Sure it will take a large private investment to keep it on the air at first, but it'll pick up
 
We should get everyone whos apart of this to figure this out and all the rules and stuff and post it in a sticky and set a date for the first round and stuff to give everyone an idea.
 
We are waiting for the real season to get started then we are going to make a sticky thread with the rules. One video with one trick per rider. I guess you can start sending vids to me, jib~ninja, or M+a+t+t and we will compile them and choose finalists. If there are any other judges I didnt name please bring atention to yourselves.
 
Another sick idea is to have a weekly rail style, ie. Week 1: flat box, Week 2: flat rail, Week 3: Single kink etc.

So everyone is finding a super sick rail that falls into that weeks category and slayin' it. It would also be easier to judge because it would not only be about creativity of rail trick but also creativity of choosing the right rail for the jib.
 
this brings me to my idea
make it a weekly contest like the weekly photo contest in the media and arts forum.
could do it two ways, pick a feature (flat rail, dfd, df box etc.) , and the person who does the sickest/most stylish/etc. trick on it wins, then picks next weeks feature.
if we run out of features you could then move it to tricks.
judges pick a trick, everyone uploads a vid of them doing this trick (probs on a rail/box it would keep thing a lil more fair) on any type of feature they want the harder the feature and more stylish the trick the more points.

might be a shitty idea but it seems cool in my head
