Upon reading several other threads on "core" companies, and seeing how companies like adidas and nike have jumped on the freeskiing band wagon recently, i have wondered what others think about them being in our sport...

Personally, i think it is bullshit, and wont support either companies, Adidas and nike, simply beacsue they are only in it to make a buck, then when it gets unpopular, they run to the hills, looking for the next way to hit it big in the economy. From a buisness standpoint, it is a great way to make money (on tehir part), however i still think that they shouldnt get all this support it they are simply in it for one reason, and one reason alone. money. yes i know tha there are companies that are already doing this, but this just stands out the greatest to me... so what do you think?? do you agree, disagree? think i should shut up?? think i am to "core"??

"BRING THE HATE"

i support whatever company makes good, quality product thats usefull for what i need and that is relatively cheap.

if they make ski shit thats as dope as their SB shoes i support it. I had the same reaction when they entered the skateboarding industry but ive realized theyr sick

nooooo, threre's a rally good article of why Nike should NOT get involved with "freestyle" sports in the latest adbusters... go read it right now.

I don't know to much about there jackets but the sweatshirts that they make are money. Double XL you can't go wrong there solid color sweatshirts, sweet stuff.

Word, everyone winced and hissed when the same into the skate game, or re-entered...but they put out some really dope shit and support a lot of good shit.

As for ACG outerwear...it's not really a skiing thing yet..it's getting there.

i dont have a problem with them tryin to make some coin. In fact it's retarted to not supports someone because they jsut want the money. They simply aren't a ski company. They go against what freeskiing and the freeskiing economy are about. Nike or adidas can sell whatever the hell they want, but if i can get something from a real specialized ski company id much rather keep the money within skiing

nike has a shit ton of money. if nike gets into skiing, nike will sponsor skiing events. that is a good thing! the more money the sport has to have events, the better off it will be.

well isn't every company in it to make money?

armada, line, 4frnt, all these companies you guys are so hardcore about buying from are only in it to make money. if they weren't, would they be making skis?

no they don't.

atomic's parent company, Amer sports, which owns, precor fitness equipment, sunnto watches and wilson, now own salomon

I won't be going out and buying and boards with swooshes on them or anything, but if they make a quality product (like outerwear), I could see purchasing something. Or socks. Or baselayer.

i have no problem with nike, if they make cool stuff then i might buy some of it. i also can get it at the employee store because my best friend's mom works their and gets me stuff

i way support companies like nike joining the band wagon, and if you well, nike has more money than god, and you cant have a band wagon without supplies. ya dig.

how about target sponcoring dumont, thats probably the most core freeskiing hookup i've ever heard of, look out ninthward, target is more core than you'll ever be

I, like a few other people have said in this thread already say, if they make some nice stuff and reletivley good prices then i will support them.

I don't know where you kids have been for the past say, 5 - 7 years, but Nike ACG has been making skiing / boarding gear for a while already.

Their dri-fit base layer system is second to none...they even label it with numbers so the retarded kids can wear it.

And, you can check out the Nike ACG website for Europe, Nike has plenty of sponsored riders both in freeskiing and snowboarding.

Just because you all haven't caught on doesn't mean Nike hasn't been doing their thing for a while. Now who wants to talk about "core"...?

http://www.nike.com/nikeacg/

i support them 110%, im for anything that generalizes industries. i hate variety. i want my nike, i want my mcdonalds, i want my starbucks now you fucks!

Adidas actually makes the nicest goggles I've ever worn. I've had mine for 3 seasons now, and they stand up to anything. They also look sick and have amazing lenses. You could offer me anything else, but I'd still take the adidas.

nike's for pussies sports. get out of skiing. moreover, i don't know in the US, but in france, ACG is a biiiig failure!

It doesn't matter how there "Shit" looks if its of good quality then it should be brought into skiing duh! and as far as a huge sponsor i'm down with that because seriously if they're sponsoring good riders and giving them good money then they should get into the sport. And remember no company gets into skiing just to support riders its to make money. And Adidas used to own salomon but then sold it.......so i don't think nike will start making boots or anything like that because its a lot of money to r and d. and thats a lot of money to put into a sport that might not go mainstream.

If their products are decent and there prices are reasonable i will have no reason too not suppourt them

You know, I have this shitty, $99 Nike ACG jacket, and it's been more waterproof, and lasted longer, than the piece of shit Helly Hansen Santo (remember that yellow jacket Pollard rocked a while ago? That one) that cost 6 times as much.

So as much as I hate Nike, maybe they're on to something with their ACG line up.

i would support them because the last thing nike invested into was skateboarding and they did a really good job and their shoes are kick ass!

so i would prolly support nike

i dont really support them cuz i think they are doing it to make a pretty penny. also becaseu say if like fishing, for some reason, became huge then nike would want to start to make fishing poles. its all good if they are dedicated, but if they are in it just for the money and more publicity then no.

very true, and you have to be dedicated to make money. I don't see nike entering a new market with a half ass attitude.

it will only be a problem when they monopolize the freeski industry and push out companies such as armada, 4frnt, and line due to the fact that they have more money
