...so, what did I miss?

Skied all my life but took a break from 1990 'til last year...

yeah, 14 years...so I got your fancy parabolic skis and I'm trying to figure out everything else. All I know is a lot more people ski the way I like to ski nowadays - back in the day we were basically 'outlawed' and constantly threatened with bans!

So, here's what I want to know:

>>>what any of the 'new' terms mean (for jumps, skis, anything)..I've barely figured out what all-mountain means.

>>>who are the names I should know (Tanner Hall, Seth, that's about all I know)

>>>anything

I love that I'm back skiing, and I'm just trying to get back above water as far as ski culture goes.

The skiing is great - best time this year was last weekend doing Pakalolo at WB.

watch ride giude and buy mags like freeze and freeskier. study study study. the exam is on thursday

Well, I'm trying to learn but you guys don't realize how much terminology has developed in 14 years. Like, what does any of this mean:

cab

natty

skiercross

can anyone spin a 7 on their feet?? i was tryin real hard and could only come up with a solid 5

90-uphill lincoln-90

PLUS - I'm going to order Yearbook DVD + one other: either Seth Morrison Chronicles or Immersion or Ski Movie - which one should I get?

get high five from level 1 productions, that along w/ yearbook are pretty good measures of where the sport is right now

'You've got to run like an antelope, out of control'

cab just means switch...or backwards. unnatty is like spinning unnatural to what u usually spin, left or right. skiercross is racing prety much on a shorter course with like other racers at the same time.

Jeepers Creepers, where'd you get the neat sneakers?!?!

hehehe giggle giggle giggle

and i think the spinning 7 on their feet thing is just jumping and spinning..nothing important. and no idea what the 90 uphill lincold stuff is

Jeepers Creepers, where'd you get the neat sneakers?!?!

hehehe giggle giggle giggle

dude how old are you? if you took a break in 1990 sounds like you could be my dad

Probably could be your dad - except I don't have any kids.

I'm 42 - which I would have thought was old as fuck when I was 20, but now it just doesn't mean anything to me.

Look at it this way: Yeah, I'm an old fucker - but I was doing most of this stuff 25 years ago.

You're kinda a lucky in some ways.

You missed that whole 'Skiboarding/Skiblading' phase.

You're coming back when its cool to be a skier so that's nice for you.

The technology is better than ever, and mountains are working with us to open new doors and make skiing more fun than ever.

Some big terms to know: switch=backwards skiing, kicker=jumps, jib=rail or box.

90-uphill lincoln-90 is the recipe for an underflip

it means spin one quarter of a 360, do an uphill lincoln (lincoln=side flip or barrel roll) meanin u spin towards the lip of the jump (up the hill from you) and then spin another quarter of a 360.

spinning a 7 is doing a 720, two rotations. 5=540 and 9=900, 1.5 and 2.5 rotations
