So today I finally got threw and was able to talk to a RCR representative, and got the chance to ask them what the hell they thought they were doing. All she responded with over and over again was they were adressing a concern that they see to keep their customers safe while riding at their fine resorts. When I sugested a park pass system, she sipmly said that that would not adress the need in the same way, and that there is simply too great of a risk. Then when I asked if this was a move to please the insurance companys because their contract was coming up for renual she had no comment. The she procided to inform me that they were talking industry leading steps, and that such other resorts such as whistler (thats right WHISTLER) were talking about taking the same steps towards removing such features from their parks. She also informed me that this was a permiment step that RCR was taking and that they do not plan on reversing thier actions, also that this is the kind of thing that I am to expect to see more and more in the coming years from more and more resorts all over the place. Is this what our sport has come to? Have we come to the point where at the first sign of trouble we simply pull the plug and stop our progression right there? I dont know about the rest of you guys, but as long as this bullshit keeps up from RCR Il be spending alot more time riding at sunshine.

that really sucks for everybody that is up in that area. im so glad that my resort is doing the total oppisite of RCR. im thinking that if people stop buying passes to (because of no park, if they dont get any pow, or it isnt worth skiing) then they might have to put them in. but im not formilliar with teh resorts up there.

Holy fucking shit! RCR seriously doesn't give a shit about the freeskiing or snowboarding communities do they?

We should find that guy who sued the ski resort and kill him. Seriously. He may have ruined park city too...

I was at Lake Louise on the busiest day they've ever had, with about 14 000 people and the park wasn't even crowded. It sucks, but we have to face the fact that families who like flat groomed runs have more purchasing power than us.

"industry leading"

Biggest joke ever. So taking steps back to the early '90s is "industry leading?" Killing an incredibly successful sector of the youth snowsports market is "industry leading?"

I am horrified by the fact that a few people who fail to be able to accept personal responsibility for their actions have began bringing down a segment of the sport that has made skiing and snowboarding a very important part of peoples lives.

Chalk one up for the nanny state. This is what happens when people flush their personal responsibility down the toilet and begin pointing fingers at everyone but themselves.

And if ANYONE off newschoolers goes to ANY RCR locations this year, you should be ashamed of yourselves for still supporting those areas financially. If you have a trip planned, contact them and cancel the trip, and tell them it is due to the removal of jumps from the terrain park.

It is imperative that we BOYCOTT RCR LOCATIONS

So a large amount of skier just shouldn't go skiing this year? ALOT of people ski at these resorts and have no choice, correct me if I am wrong.

It may also be feasible to begin a petition to submit to the major sponsors of various RCR terrain parks.

I know Telus sponsors Lake Louise's park. Write Telus urging that they pull their sponsorship of Lake Louise. It would be a huge blow to Lake Louise to lose that.

Find alternative options.

Why should they change their position if people are still purchasing passes? They aren't going to care if a website sends them a petition but their numbers don't suffer.

It's all about $$$ to them, and if you don't hit them where it hurts, then they will not change their policy.

All I'm saying is that if the resorts aren't taking a financial hit, their policy will not change, no matter how many signatures there are on a petition.

The only way to enact changes with business is to affect their bottom-line.

i hear a faint noise in the distance... i think its thousands of dollars falling out of the pockets of RCR... im not sure though

Im so pissed, im comin all the way from Aus to work in Nakiska for the season and there takin out all the jumps which is gunna make me more bored, and Lake louise which isnt far, wont have jumps either, LAME

as my signature says, i have a feeling this is going to turn into another kill the parapalegic thread. oh wait it already is. hahaha, yeah that guy has some serious trouble coming his way if this thing goes through, which it sounds like it will.

for all you guys that ride RCR i think you should boycott, and get all your friends to as well, see if it makes a statement. if it doesnt, then i am truly sorry for your loss, its just plain wrong to do this kind of thing

does the rcr locations include big white? cuz i was gonna go there this christmas break and i'd be really pissed off if they didn't have any tables whatsoever

SkierX is right.  Everyone needs to find the numbers and or emails for the people high up that are in charge of tellus' marketing and tell them taht they are supporting the most hated parks in the industry.  To take Tellus away from RCR is key.  People need to contact Tellus and make them realize how stupid they look supporting such pathetic parks.  I dont live there but I still intend on doign this because RCR is being ridiculous and they need to be stopped.

Yes go to sunshine... its more awesomer anyways.

RCR sucks. If they think crapping on the fastest growing part of the industry is a good business step, then my freinds, its time to have our say... you could go protest, but sometimes it is better to say nothing at all. Dont support the people who dont support you.

ride places that have the balls to stand up and say, "hey, we like that you guys chose our resort, and our park to ride in, and we will do everything we can to please you."

This is a customer service business, and the jack asses at RCR feel the costomer is wrong... we are always right, its the golden rule of what they do.

dont pay the price to ride and support the people who shit on what you love.

Please dont.

k if whistler did that i think that would proabbaly be the stupidest thing ever. so many people would move away from whistler and they would loose a lot of there business..same with all the RCR resorts

That will never happen at Whistler/Blackcomb, they invest big time into their park system, and they have a pass system with a manditory helmet rule in the black park. They won't be interested in this 'step back' to 1980.

Never will that happen in Whistler and many other places.

The only thing you can do, even if it means skiing at a crappier hill, (If they cater to newschool, help them out more finacially, (and dont let 1 cent of your hard earned money go to RCR)

thats the only solution, and tel everyone how much they are assholes.

but if you dont have a coice, well do the rails, and take trips when you can to other places with booters.

encourage the companys that encourage you.

oh there a rail comp at stoneham. What are you going to do. dont go and give them money for shafting you.

You guys have to thik though that there are probably bunches of snowboarders that will be pissed off too, it would be good to have them on board too.

Nomen, the thing about it all is though, to enact change, you need to hurt RCR financially. if you don't affect their financial numbers negatively, they have no incentive to change their ruling.
