So today i stood up and fainted

Alright now I know nsg isn't really the place to ask about this but, a lot of times when I'm sitting and stand up, I get really dizzy and start like blacking out. Now I usually just close my eyes and hold onto something when this happens and it goes away after a few seconds. But today it was way more intense than usual. I closed my eyes and leaned on the wall because there was nothing to hold onto, and I don't remember what happened next but when I open my eyes I was on the ground. Figured it can't be too good. Any one have any idea whats going on here? Thanks

happens to everyone. im pretty sure its because when you stand up fast blood rushes down to your body from your head and you black out for a little unti; blood comes back to your head

idk what the problem is but this happens to most people... just not to the point of fainting

if i get out of bed quick i start seeing black for a couple seconds so i sit down and recover right away, i dont think its a big deal really for most people

it happens to me when i lay down a long time, then stand up, i get dizzy and the room spins and stuff goes black. ive never passed out but sometimes i fall over and lie there for a minute or two. i believe it is cause from lack of blood to the brain or oxygen

Haha it's wicked fun. It happens to me/everyone all the time. I just stumble around for a minute and it goes away.

it used to happen to me all the time, it does happen to everyone but if it happens a lot it can mean you have an iron defficiency, get off the computer and eat something healty or take iron tablets if that happens or almost happens again.

happens to me all the time, only actually fainted twicetho

i went to the doctor cuz it can sometimes be a heart problem like a heart murmer or irregular heartbeat.

for me it wasnt, the more common cause is just that when ur sitting ur circulatory system isnt working as hard b/c it doesnt have to pump the blood as high. you stand up and the blood kind of leaves ur head/doesnt get pumped all the way to ur head cuz ur heart isnt working harder to adjust yet.

this is a pretty basic explanation but its pretty accurate acording to my doc

half the time when it happens to me I'm in a group where I don't really want anybody to notice so I just follow the group without being able to see anything hoping I don't walk into a wall or something.

hahaha same thing happens to me. i was wondering if it was normal and it seems it is.

the worst was i got up, blacked out for like 2 minutes, woke up bleeding (busted lip) all over the new wood floor. my parents were like what the hell did you do to the floor. that pissed me off. but yea haha i'm glad i'm not the only one this has happened too.

ya samething happens to me never blacked out though, come close sometimes. if it happens when you're just sitting or standing there i don't think it would be a good thing but if its just when you stand up i think your fine

That actually happened to me this morning, cracked my head open pretty good, and uh its kinda shitty now.

sometimes when im sittin for a long time then i stand up, my vision goes all trippy, but never blacked out.

a few years back i was sitting in my living room lazyboy on the phone, and my annoying older next door neighbor lady walks into my house like she sometimes did. i got up and decided to go to my bedroom, so when i stepped onto the first stair above the floor, with my next door neighbor standing near, i blacked out really quickly and sent it backwards off the step headfirst into a wall. i slammed into the floor, and the phone went flying. my neighbor freaked, grabbed it, screamed to whoever it was i was talking to that it was an emergency, and hung up. i regained my composure and sat there in disbelief, more embarrased than anything, and she was screaming asking if i was alright. i looked her calmly in the eyes and said 'yea', and she tried to be a hero and call me out, telling me i should go to the emergency room. god damn i don't like that woman.

also, last week i was working an evening shift at my hotel, chilling watching tv in the back, when someone dinged the bell at the desk. i jumped up, walked out to the desk, and began talking to this tourist who needed directions or something. then i started to lose it, and my vision went all salt and peppery. thing was, i was in the middle of telling him where to go, and maintained eye contact with the dude although i lost my vision entirely and then gained it back a few seconds later. i kept talking throughout like nothing was going on, and when my vision came back, he was staring deep into my eyes with a puzzled look. he must have thought i was high on crack, or that i had the craziest set of eyes, everr.

yeah if you're laying down for a long time and stand up really quickly everybody gets a little dizzy, like blood draining out of your head or something. but i've never fainted, that's x-core.

Hmmm nothing like thats ever happened to me. I see stars sometimes if I stand up too quickly but thats all.

I've only ever fainted at the dentist.

Were you horny at the smae time? Maybe all the blood from your head went to your cock?

Ahahahaha! thats awesome, thanks for making my night.

but yea i get that too, I've heard it occurs frequently with people who have high areobic fitness levels. because you're fit you often work your heart really hard, so when you are resting your heart actually needs to work less than that of an unfit person. so when you stand up suddenly there isn't enoguh blood being pumped upward to your brain. its kinda the same thing that fighter pilots experience when pulling mad gs, all the blood drains away from their brain and they have a 'grey out' where their vision goes grey and they feel dizzy (sound familiar?)

Its pretty trippy when it happens its quite fun sometimes but at other times its damn anoying. if its affecting you to the point of fainting though you might wanna go get your blood pressure etc checked by the doc

i did it when i was in my house waiting to get picked up, fell right back onto my parents desk and hit my head. didnt hurt much but cool experence

that could be it, or it could also be low blood sugar, so eat something good for you like fruit.... and it does also have to do with blood pressure changes but yours sounds a little more serious

yea it happens to me all the time. im not sure if this is right, but maybe your a little de-hydrated. because i run a lot, and afterwards it happens alot

Oof! It nearly happened to me thismorning right after I replied to this thread, got up to go get lunch and everything went grey and i had tunnel vision for about a minute :S

yea I got pretty much blind, its pretty cool actually, yesterday I had tunnel vision for around a minute.

I LOVE IT WHEN THIS HAPPENS

you get like all dizzy after laying down and jumping up real quick, its so much fun to try to like not fall and shit. damn i love it.

that happens to me alot at school, like when i stand up to to to the next class i get wicked dizzy and can't really see anything

i was like covering up most of my mouth with my hand

and breathing quickly

cause i was bored

and almost passed out sitting down

DONT TRY IT

this happens to me a lot. ill stand up and just get really light headed. ive got a real problem with hot tubs too. everytime i get out i get super light headed and have to sit down. if its cold out i come back to life but if its an indoor hot tub and its warm ill pass out for a few seconds. its fucked up

My girlfriend stood up out of her dest at the end of class, and just fell akwardly forward. I know it not proper, but, the way she fell, was kinda funny.

Its just a headrush. I get them when I wake up in the morning sometimes.

maybe you didnt eat enough and you gelt light headed combined with teh fact that its probaly that thing wehre you stand up to quickly blah blah blah
