that's not possible. a movie on average costs let's say $5, just to make things easy. $9 million divided by 5 would mean that 1,800,000 people went to that *one* theater for a 10 o'clock showing. now does that seem like a reasonable number of people jammed into a theater that can hold a few hundred people? i think not

some theaters have like 5 screens playing the same movie though. but that does seem a little unreasonable for just ONE theater. Tickets are super expensive here too...like $7.50 then add a couple twenty bucks for a large popcorn and a drink...oh and milk duds.

ok, let's say tickets were 15 for opening night and they were playing the movie on 5 screens. that would mean there had to be 120,000 people in each showing.....possible? i think not

its called a sneak preview, and almost every highend theater does it.

therefore it is possible for the movie to make $9mil already.

infact the matrix opening weekend isnt even complete yet and it has already doubled titantic (the next closest movie) for opening weekend sales.

records are gonna be set with this one, and if it seems a little high, chances are its true

it made like 95 million on opening weekend...second only to spiderman last year but the biggest opening for an r rated movie, beating out hannibal.

the highest grossing r rated movie ever i believe is beverly hills cop which it will beat no problem.
