I said this, i think it's pretty good:
To Whom it May Concern,
I heard about the recent passing of a student at your high school.
While I may not be from your town, and have never met this kid, it made
me a bit down. What made that feeling even worse was when I heard your
school was doing nothing to remember this student, despite students
wanting a memorial. The deceased lived a rough life, and he worked
nights at McDonalds so he and his brother could give their family some
money. That story is nothing short of inspirational to me. A hero like
this should be honored, not forgotten. I ask that you please, make an
announcement about his passing at the very least. Something needs to be
done. At my school, we had a memorial for a student at the middle
school. We also had one for a kid who overdosed on morphine. And from
what I've heard, your school community is a smaller one, which I can
only imagine makes the passing harder on the students. I remember
seeing kids sobbing when the kid from my high school passed, and I go
to a school of over 2000. So this is your time to step up and be there
for your students when they need you the most.
Sincerely,
