So nobody really went 20 feet in the X Games pipe.

I was looking at some pictures of X pipe, and i noticed that the camera man was between 9 and 10 feet tall. And most of the people are around 8-9 feet tall.

Real cool espn, real cool.

oh and one more thing, unless that guy is seven feet tall, its less than a foot between each yellow line. Not only did they start it at three feet, but its not even a full foot between each mark, so now what the height meter says is 7 feet is really only 6. Fun eh?

yeah watch the replays, i think its the one of dumont. they do a freeze frame to see how high he went and the cartoon line drawn on the screen acutually curves wayy up so it gets over 20.

that ruler is probably just measured in cubits or something, that's why it's weird... they must have a seperate measurement thing for feet

probably not dude, they are probably a foot in between, that guys got a hat on which makes him look taller and even with that hes not quite up to the 10 foot mark, plus hes got ski boots on and i cant tell if hes on skis or not which would add a few more inches

it's probly not espn's fault. i mean burton probably bribed them to do that so that to make snowbaorders feel better about their weak performance.

any genius thought that the pipe's deck could be sloped up two, three feet. it is off to the back of the pipe quite a bit.

higher looks better to those at home and also they had to sink a towe that big into the snow so it wouldnt fall down

^ do u plan on climbing up a 30 ft tower to adjust a banner, not to say that the hieght appering higher then it was botherd them

ever heard of a "crane"? you know, those tall machines they use to lift heavy shit high in the air? yeah, well there are a bunch of different kinds of cranes and one kind has a big bucket that people can fit in. once the person is inside of the bucket, the crane goes upupup and the person can work on things that are high off the ground. now that we all know what a crane is, ESPN easily could have afforded to use one of those for 15 minutes to adjust the banner.

OR

they could have built the tower knowing that it was going to have to be sunk a certain distance and compensated for that by moving the measurements up 3 feet.

any time you want to give me an award for figuring out that insanely complex stuff, message me and i'll give you my mailing address so you can get the trophy to me.

that means if they say u went 20 u actually only went about 14ft. out. cause it says tim is 10ft. tall and hes tween 6 and 7 or so, so yeay say 7 ft. for every 10 so 20ft. actually is 14

few things, not that i like espn, but you dont know if that pic is the peak of his air and if you discount the hat, skis, and boots, he is probably about 6'4" or so. Also, he is uphill of the measurement. the pipe is downhill but those pillars are set on a horizontal. If you look closely, you can see that the snow level is higher on the measuring stick near him. Also, I believe the numbers refer to the line above them. It wouldn't make sense the other way around. So his height with gear on ranges from about 2.25 feet to 8.75 feet. If you take half a foot off for skis, hat, and boots you get 6ft. So, that measurement isnt unresonable. However you are correct, the pillar is buried two feet deep in snow. At most there is prolly 6-12 inches of extra snow there to anchor the pillar thing in, so it is skewed by about 1-1.5 feet I think. You can see that extra snow in the first pic in front of the navy banners.

So, your cameramen and people around are not 9 feet tall. The camerman in front of the chair is actually almost exactly 8 feet in that pic, and if he is over 6 feet tall, we are looking at a skewing of 1.5ish feet. The people are slightly less by the measurement if you look closely. Also, take into account the slope of the pipe for those people uphill of the pillar which causes huge skew factors.

Lastly, when measuring height, you need to be looking on a level. We are measuring in that pic downhill of the skiier and pillar. We are looking up at them, skewing it. If he is downhill of the pillar, then air is downsized and vice versa for uphill. We don't know where to measure from, but assuming we do measure from this pic, we get about 19 feet (taking one off for burying variable). And we dont know where in the trajectory of the jump he is. So he couldve been higher or not. PLus other skiiers too couldve gone higher. (SIMON)

There could be a mistake in there, but it seems logical to me.

yeah the last thing skiing needs is expn.. fuck the x games!! we'll just have big air competitions at taos with 4 people in the audience. get over yourselves.
