I thought my friend was talking about basketball at first, but nope it was hockey. One of the kids had a double hat trick.

What do you even say when you're shaking hands afterwards?
 
i hope they fought you guys for running the score. once you hit double digits you gotta stop caring. being try-hards when you know you've won just gets you a swift punch in the mouth. or at least it should..

seriously this isnt a very rare occurence im sure it happens, in a ton of places. Some teams in my city always blow out certain teams
 
Wow, only a team full of self-absorbed assholes would run up the score that high IN A HOCKEY GAME. After 8 or 9 it should have been all bench playing keep away. Your hockey teams coach is a fucking dick...
 
this is definetly true, when i played hockey we would never hit double digits out of respect same with basketball our coach would never let us go over 99 unless it was a close a game and it was necessary
 
sounds like Canada women's hockey team at the Olympics. torino they beat the Italian's like 16-0 or something. just unfair. they weren't even trying, I bet they could have made it 30-0 if they were feeling cruel
 
When I played hockey our team beat the other team 31-0, I don't see what the big deal is? I mean it's definitely unsportsmanlike, but that's life.
 
kinda seems like a deuche move on the team and coaches part. to just keep scoring like that...
 
Seriously - Hockey: start dicking around at about 8-0, don't run it up. Try to emulate one of your favorite players moves just to see what you can do then pass the puck off to someone else.

Baseball: After around 8-0 stop stealing, bunting, etc., after about 12-0 run base to base. It sucks seeing an easy triple turned into a single but there's no reason to jam it in their ass.

Basketball: Stop running plays, burn the clock down on every possession, start havin fun. Don't be putting up 3-balls when you're up by 30.

 
there's one school we race every year who we beat by at least 2 minutes. it's really quite bad

my old hockey team beat someone 14-1, i had a double hat trick, but 17-0 is definitely the highest score i've heard of. in the last 10 mins our coach told us that if we scored we would be benched so we had to just play keep away against the other team

in lacrosse when we were up like 9-0 at half and they were a joke we just switched up the positions and i did work at goalie.
 
my track team, with only 8 runners, finished 2nd. the team that won had 34, and 3rd, 4th, 5th had 28, 20, 13, respectively.

i didnt make a thread.

 
well you said "someone" so im guessing that its not difficult for a team to beat one person... tell them good job though! i guess the coach decided they needed the ego boost.
 
If my soccer team is up 5 or 6 to zero my coach says he benches anyone who scores, so we see if we can get everyone on the team to score
 
Fuck sympathy. If a team is pounding another one then let them score as much as they can it's not their fault the other team sucks :)
 
Sometimes it comes down to score differential, so its not that big of a deal, high school hockey is full of pricks so is anybody really surprised?

And to the kid saying to try your favorite players moves, in my opinion that's worse, i'd rather you went and scored on me then tried a move that you couldn't do just because you're winning, especially because if you mess up the move in a blowout, you and your whole team will probably laugh, and seeing a team laugh about something like that in any sport is a slap in the face....with a dick.

But seriously i'd rather lose 17-0 to a team than get jocked with and have the other team laughing.
 
one time my team won 31-0

i scored all the goals!

it was in NHL99, that game was the shiiieet
 
I had a coach that would make us do that like that, except it was soccer. He was a total dick and even if we were winning by way to much for us to feel good about, he'd tell us to bury them, more or we'd run.. fucking ass. it was like 13-1 or something insane like that.
