So my dad needs some new skis...........

so its that time of year where we are all looking at new skis. My dad has given me the task of finding him some new skis for trees/crud/pow. The past 3 years he has been using 181 salomon 1080s. He likes them but I really thinks he needs a wider ski for pow sense we live out west. He likes the width of those tho so maybe something rockered but around the same waist wist(86 I think). He is 6'2 185-190 and is an expert skier. Unlike the last thread on skis for a dad my dad is a fan of twins. I showed him to ski switch so he does on some of the easyer trails. I think thats every thing. If I left anything out let me Know. O and what bindings would be good. I was thinking sth 16s(he rides at a 12 din)

that sounds exactly like my dad
he got some scratch bc's and loves them (07 i believe, yellow ones)

i would recommend those if you can find them

first of all thats sooo epic that your dad rides twintips and skis switch!!! I wish my dad was that cool, i really really do....anyway maybe ARVs?...ooorrrrr hellbents!!!! had to be said.

if he wnats something similar to his teneighties but wider, he could get guns. but yea ARVs are cool.

is it strange that my mom really likes the hellbent graphic? she asked why I dont sell my EPs and get bents sense "they are alot more fancy looking"

my dad fucking slays and he really likes prophet 100's, i got him a pair last year and he loves them, they're a nice fat twin that will go fast and hold up in crud and everything, it's the best all around ski me or my dad has ever been on excluding park, i'd check those out, probably in a 186

my dad just bought Bacons for a softer ski in trees and deep pow, he also has some Seths.

I'd go Bacons

dude, if he doesnt want a twin tip, but wants a sick ski for groomers and crud and stuff, the tigersharks are soooooo sick. I swear.

Tahoes!

I know so many old dudes who loooove them. Especially if they come from a racing background (don't know if your dad does or not).

Dynastar XXL.

WIll carve groomers better. (better edge hold due to increased torsional rigidity and increased stiffness in the tail).

Will ski powder much better (it is an exceptional powder ski. 109 in the waist, massive tip with huge shovel)

Will ski trees much better (due to better flotation, if you have to fight to keep floating then you decrease your agility in the trees)

Will ski crud MUCH MUCH MUCH better due to increased stiffness and a more directional shape.

Will ski moguls better due to a straighter sidecut.

Plus I am selling a pair (next years version!) so you can get them on the cheap.

prophet 100 is also the best all-round ski ive ever been on. It floats through pow, blasts through crud, is light and quick in the trees, its got solid flex, and on groomers you wouldnt even know you had 100 underfoot.

The Prophet 100s are definitely a good choice, but I would throw the Dynastar Big Troubles in the mix too. They have a great predictable stiffer flex, they don't feel very hooky when skiing switch, and they are 92mm underfoot.

Anything similar to those two would be rad for him.

i would also have to say prophet 100's in a 186.gets verry high praise in all the mags and reviews on the internet.

the big trouble is a bc jib ski, it's too park oriented for him and also the prophet 100 is stiffer for someone who skis harder, i doubt he skis switch a lot and the 100 does fine for that, i think the bt's are just a little too park oriented for his dad

Def go with the ARV's I know a few older ppl who got dem, and I have a pair myself in the quiver.

A good ski for the pops, and it can shred everything that you said.

100% this is the ski for him... PM me with what you decide.

agreed that the prophet 100 is a bit stiffer in the tail for sure, but it's only 2mm less taper tip to tail than the bt, and i'd say that they are similar flexing from waist to tip.

the prophet has a bit better rep as a freeride ski, but i know a couple of guys that ride the bt as a non park ski, and like its predictability all around.

i've ridden both a good amount and the prophet slays groomers and holds an edge like a race ski whereas the bt likes to slide a little more, it has a little extra underfoot for pow and it slays crud way better than the bt imho, i found that the bt flapped a little whereas the prophet plowed through without hesitation

he is looking at them. but he wants a ski he could demo first and he has never heard of moment
