So my computer died

Im' pretty sure i got a hardcore virus from a torrent. First it just shut down my comp, and it wouldnt start up again; it said that a driver was missing. Then, after trying to reinstall drivers off a disc, it said that i had no operating system. After trying to reinstall windows, it said i had no hard drive, which i'm pretty sure cannot magically be removed from my computer. So i was wondering if there is any way i can fix this myself. As a last resort, i can give it in to the IT guy at my dads office, but i've had to do that before, and it took 2 months and a couple hundred bucks to fix. Granted, last time my computer was physically broken, so it should be as bad, but i doubt my dad would be thrilled so any help would be greatly appreciated from any computer whizzes out there.
 
Yup. You don't even need a virus for a mac to stop working! But no seriously. I'm sure macs are the best computers ever...
 
open up the case and check to see if there is any damage to the motherboard...almost the same thing happened to me once and i had burn marks on my motherboard from overheating...so check that first if you havent already done that

if there seems to be nothing wrong then unplug all the connectors and such and plug them back in...sometimes shit comes loose for no apparent reason and then try to reformat the computer again...if that doesnt work then you should just give it to someone that knows what they are doing cuz so many other things you cant even think of could be wrong..

maybe i should've said this before, but i had to go study. My comp is a laptop, which makes everything a lot harder, and i just had my motherboard replaced a few months ago.
