Well my family crappy little point and shoot camera( you know the one's always used on vacations and what not) just broke and it is not worth fixing due to the price so we need a new one. I was trying so hard to convince my mom to get a digital slr but she said no because she doesnt want to have to carry some big ass thing around anymore( she used to use some decent old film SLR with a really nice lens on it for years until we go our first digital) so i guess ill have to buy my own Digital SLR.

anyways, back to the point and shoots.

I remember reading a article in Freeskier( im 95% positive it was freeskier) about some point and shoot camera that was actually of pretty good quality in the photo's it took. I was searching thorugh all my freeskiers yesterday trying to find the article but i couldnt. I dont remember to much specificaly about the article accept who ever was writing it was saying how "at Comp's to other photographers would give me funny looks and automatically think i wasnt as good as them because my lens was not as good as theres..." something along those line's.

can someone help if they know what im talking about could they tell me the camera or reference me the article or issue. Or if someone has some other good point and shoots to recommened please do so.

Thanks.

Canon G9.

however, since the mag was published the Canon G10 has come out at the same price of $500

i came super close to buying it but chose a sony a200 instead

thanks that was what i was looking for.

just out of curiosity do you know what issue it was or did you just know about the camera.

FYI - on ski trips I have had 2 things happen to me worthy of note to camera buyers. 1) The camera/shutter froze/stuck 2) camer/ battery died from cold. So now I got this point & shoot thing that even has a snow setting and movies... http://gizmodo.com/376339/lightning-review-waterproof-shockproof-freezeproof-olympus-stylus-1030sw Olympus 1030SW. It survived cat skiing out west. Yeah I know keep the camera and batteries warm. But ..things happen. Not and SLR. http://www.picturesnob.com/archives/2008/02/news_from_pma_08_olympus_stylu.php .. I think it is like 3rd generation...

oh my god, i cant believe i missed it. hear i am thinking i read it liek a year ago when it was actually only two months ago.
