So much respect for pipe skiers

i made a trip to whistler last week and reliezed i should hit the pipe since my home mountain doesnt have one, i start off on the mini pipe (11 ft) stoked and ready to drop in i come down into the pipe i get 3/4 of the way up the wall, i keep working at it and eventally starting to get a little air

this was one the mini pipe too, i did not think think pipe was this difficult

i now have mass amounts of respect for pipe skiers for beeing able to go 23 feet in the air on a 22ft pipe

Standing at the dropin to PCs 22' pipe is scary. Definitely can't air more than 3 ft haha and thats only on the right wall.

This. I can air out decently and do lame grabs but only on the right wall. The only place I can do tricks is on the very last hit where the pipe is about 8 feet.

I used to be alright in the pipe for my age but then I just stopped riding in it and now I can barely air out. I just hate how the walls are totally just ice.

I fucking love pipe, just boosting a straight air is a blast. Riding a 22 foot pipe is more fun than any roller coaster I've taken.

PIpe is a lot of fun for me. It is a blast. I just hate when one wall is the perfect mix of ice and slush, so you can still boost, but its a nice fluffy feeling, and the other wall is sheer ice. Major buzzkill. But PC's pipe is a monster, but a slayable one

Tried pipe yesterday, didn't look to bad. Then I got in the pipe and almost crapped myself. It was pretty dang scary riding up walls of ice.

i feel the same way. pros make it look so easy, but when i go into pipe at first it was weird getting air and landing again no upright. its just something you have to get used to

Northstars pipe is just ice.

but boreals is really nice. I just got 5's in pipe i'm pretty stoked. the hardest trick in pipe? Flat spins so hard!!

i used to love pipe! i tried a flat spin tho the beginning of this year tho, now i completely hate it! so much respect for pro pipe skiers!

Its super sketchy if you don't have good skis for it either, last time I was messing around in the pipe with my pow skis and was like drifting down the wall as I was riding up it was the sketchiest shit ever.

Pipe is so damn scary, especially with shitty park skis that just slide around on the walls. Huge respect for anyone boosting 20+ feet out of em.

this, just in an 18 foot pipe in the spring.
mid winter pipes aren't my jam. once the walls get a little soft and my dull rail skis can edge i love just boostin.

Pipe's pretty fun once you get into it. Up to this year I've never really hit pipe but now I enjoy it. but I still gotta say park>pipe

i learned the hard way that edges are essential when trying to boost out of super pipes
im pretty sure they are all sheer ice all the time

Pipe is so gnarly. I can air like 2 or 3 feet out, but only on the right wall. And absolutely no spinning or anything. I cant even imagine going 20 feet out and upside down. Or for that matter landing switch.

lol pipe is like the only thing I consider myself pretty good at. I definitely feel more comfortable in a pipe (I can spin a unnatural 5 and up to switch 7 in pipe, but it would be a great day if I did a switch 3 or a unnatural 1 on a tiny jump /claim), and there's hardly anyone in there. Spring pipes are the shit, nice and slooshy walls all day

agreed, im pretty decenton jumps/rails and real shredding, but i look like a gaper in the pipe. it's hard/exhilarating for me to get a few feet above the lip

im done with pipe after last year, my hill has a 16ft and i was going for a back 5 on the right wall, flat footed the deck and fell in, my shoulder was dislocated for 6 hours and i still dont have full mobility

yep. east coast pipes such dick. and they probably have some ice out west too... i only hit em i the spring when my skiis with practically no edge left can hold on the walls. and i can do little airs and small 360's on a good day lol

pipe is really hard and kinda easy to fuck up on. always had respect for pipe guys

It's the funnest thing ever though switch in mini pipes is especially cool it's just so fast i can only air 2 feet out since i've ski'd pipe like 6 times total love pipe

agreed. i just progressively go bigger and bigger until i shit my pants.

to the kid talking about killington's pipe, it is absolutely terrifying. you can't hold an edge at all, the thing is entirely ice and the walls are so close together.
