ok, i now i'm gay and shit, but i went out a bought some fruit boots. not too expensive mind you, just some ones to play around with. it kinda sucks that so many people make fun of roller bladers, and now I'm one! they're not that bad, they're kinda cool! my next door neighbors have a half pipe in their backyard though, so i'll be able to work on my pipe skiing skills a bit this summer. am I really a homo for becoming a fruit-booter?

well, the 190's are actually my friend kevin's, we haven't done mine yet, the skis i'm using are 160's, i also twin tipped them myself (i used them last winter a little) we're still gonna use them, but i obviously can't use those in a pipe!

what the? it seems like the skis would be too long and you would just get stuck in the curve of the pipe! unless the walls we like REALLY gradual, but that wouldn't be a pipe. how long are yours?

Sean mine are 198's. i put the trucks a little over 3 feet apart, but they bend a lot, but thats also because they are 198's. so just set them as far apart as you see fit.

what the hell is everybody's problem? skate's are a great off season sport for skiing. you can practice all sorts of crazy tricks. the coolest thing is if you can find a place to build a ramp into a lake. but be sure to wear a life jacket cause it's hard as fuck to swim with skates on.

sk8ing rocks! no other sport can slide a steep 50-ft. kink rail with a kink ever 5 steps (denial clothing video 'Apprehensions'). or how about a huge mute 180 over a 20 set stair. how about you faggots look through an issue of Daily Bread before you say it's easy and gay looking. the rails take so much more skill and are more tech than even skiing. I have mad respect for rollerbladers.. If you haven't seen VG 11 through about 14 you need to. Those cats have mad style. So many ski tricks evolved from rollerblades.

skateboarding died in the 70's i believe....and it died becuse they outlawed it when it first came out......so you couldn't buy a skateboard anywhere. people built skateboards outa a peice of wood and some clay wheels. if you haven't seen the movie 'Dogtown & Z Boys'....see it, that shit is tight. it's phat how skateboarding first started and how they were doing moves likes surfers and knocked out that gay hand stand riding bull shit. so yea my point was, roller blading won't boom again.....no one is going to outlaw it, so there isn't going to be a sudden rush to the sport. and pretty much everyone knows about it......anyway, check out that vid, it's sick as hell.....

So how do these street skis work? Are the wheels like rollerblades or are they skateboard trucks? The closest thing I can think of to what you are talking about are the 'cross country' street skiers.

hey, u guys dont realize how much blading helps in skiers for instance Chris Turpin bladed a lot in his younger years and if you have ever seen him, he is so smooth, he can ride switch in anything including pipe which is where skiers are behind snowboarders (he did his switch flat 5, aka horizon) and if u watch him land or take off switch its smooth as hell. rollerblading is worth it, it will help u shit loads. i have a pair of skates and i have a skateboard and i do them both but when i blade i only do ski tricks and shit, also heres a list of pro skiers who fruitbooted,

yeah, thanks to all the guys who are ok with blading. roller blades teach you a LOT about balance for switch tricks, at least for me. if you land bad on skis, you won't fall, you just get shin splints, but if you land wrong on blades, you're on your ass! i know skateboarders have some thing against fruitbooters. i like skating just as much, but it's kinda like roller blading is to skateboarding, as skiing is to snowboarding. (hope that doesn't piss too many people off)

Balding is epic, its heaps sick. i went to the planet-x games in sydney last year and this guy did a 1260 in the pipe, it was smooth not super hucked. and then this japanese guy did and inverte 1080. its a sick sport so much like skiing because its teaches you how to get off axis while going for ward, not sideways like skating.

I dont think you should ever compare sking with rollerblading. Sking took every trick that rollerbladers tried to do and made it decent. Sorry but rollerblading has no style and unless you want skiing to be the same way dont compare the two. I understand they do a bit of crazy things on BLADES, but that can only go so far. This is about as technical as skating gets- hey 720 thas set of 3. A 1260 in the pipe would have looked rather gay, unless he went like 20 feet out it was hucked. You can spin that much going that small without hucking. I have done both inlineing and skateboarding. Thats right i still skateboard. It took me one day to learn how to drop in on inlines. About a month on a skateboard on my own mini ramp. It took me a whole hour to learn a 3 on inlines.

Rails on inlines are ok, but even then they dont look that hard cause you get such a low center of gravity when doing them.

But if you want to inline and it makes you happy then do it, but dont compare it to skiing and dont bring skiing down with it. Rollerbladings downfall was the spin as much as you can mentality. I already see to much of it in skiing and it worries me. See ya.

 
Skiing and fuckin rollerblading are the same fuckface. Do you see bladers doing spread eagles or daffies, no because skiing stole tricks from skates. How come there are so many dope skiers out there that came straight from rollerblades. corked spins, mistys, bio, all stole from skating. Skating just needs to be respected.

I don't think its really fair to generalize a sport as basically everyone has done here. Saying that rollerblading isn't stylie is just plain ignorant. As is with skiing, everyone in rollerblading has their own style. The same trick will look different with each individual. I guess the point I am trying to make is this:

well, i actually have seen rollerbladers do mistys. tons of them. i was at the big telus festival at whistler last year, and they had a double half pipe thingy in the village, right next to my hotel. there was skaters, bmx'ers, and bladers. the bladers were doing all these sweet mistys and full backs over the middle, it was pretty cool! i don't think that's where skiing got misty's from though, i think skiing got most of its tricks from snowboarding (newschool anyways), but skiing and blading still have many similarities.
