Yeah, so pretty much, long story short, i'm driving from Mass to Virginia friday morning at 6 am. By my self. In a 15 year old car. With over 100k miles on it. I have driven ...maybe 6-7 hours straight before...but nothing like 10 in a place i don't know, by myself.

Any tips? Not tips on how to pass the time while driving, just tips on things to bring, what to do if i get fucked, and if you think i will make it there and back or not.

Wish me luckkk

personally weed aint really my thang, but i was talking to this kid i ski with sometimes about roadtrips and he said if you just smoke a blunt either before or while driving long distances instead of getting tired your mind just wanders and you think about shit
kinda sounds like a bad idea but i can see what hes saying

my advice to you: take off that dress and end this little tea party. you probably play videogames for 10 hours a day.

Seriously, driving blunted for distance is great. You dont get tired but your mind drifts and you think about deep shit. If anything odd happens you snap out of it and can react. I do this for 2 hour trips to mountains or on the way home

hahaha, i've been really bored driving before, super tempted to try this, still haven't. anyone here done it?

well i was going to suggest to bring dane cooks cds for the trip, oh boy they make driving fun

just make sure your tyres are pumped, your spare is legit, and other than that, all else is out of your control

dont listen to those guys dont bring weed ive driven long distances before from montreal to banff/edmonton twice and worked in northern alberta and was an 8 hr drive home in alberta and smoking weed for short distances makes it better for sure but 5hrs plus terrible idea get mad tired and irritable id get a membership at caa, or aaa i guess in states, cellphone, maps and whenever i go on long drives i always make sure to have decent amount of cash for wtv

Actually, i don't. But good job quoting one of the gayest comedians of all time.

And no, i don't listen to dane cook, i only knew it was him because other people quoted and responded to you.

anyone who says weed, i don't smoke.

and anyone who has given actual advice, thanks.

seriously though, either get some books on tape or comedy cd's. they help hella...oh and btw i think youll make it there and then crap out 5 blocks before your house on the way back

Go pee every time you stop somewhere (gas food). I learned that driving from VT to UT the hard way. Waiting 40 miles for the next rest area feels like forever.

Its a good thing we can piss standing up.
Where there's a tree, there's a way.
Actually if its not super cold, super windy, there's a way.
Actually, there's always a way.

windshield washer fluid man the one day that was the worst driving up to the hill was the day mine ran out. fuck that noise.

If there's an interstate there is usually not a way.

Weed is good to pass the time but you will get tired eventually.

so weed and caffeine

definitely have a membership to AAA they will fix everything. Jump Cables and a spare tire with jack etc. is always good.

I drove the 30 hour trip from vt to co myself, 3 days of 10 hour drives. Weed is good, but use it at the end of the trip as your reward right when you think your gonna go nuts, coming down at the end of the long trip isn't much fun. Other than that get your ipod and just cruise and suck it up, not much else you can do.

well...i skipped a lot of this because it seems like a lot of this turned into a discussion on what driving when blown away is like.

If you get fucked: it seems like a no brainer, but you're gonna want a map, a phone, probably a phone charger. you're also gonna want jumpers and since it's winter you might want to bring a shovel too. make sure you have stuff to change a tire if you end up having some kind of tire incident too. probably gonna want insurance stuff too...

also a no brainer...make sure you have enough funds for gas...if you're really ambitious (or worried) you might consider bringing an extra jug of gas just in case you run out and need enough to get to the next exit...

don't forget food...

where in VA are you going? and my advice to you is to bring some snacks, have some good playlists set on your iPod, and like someone said, books on tape or cd are great, especially when they are well done and with a full voice cast. one more thing, don't drive when you are super super tired. try and get some caffeine, or get some rest. If you have seen the movie Cars, you know what can happen haha

attempted for a very very short period of time, but, i didnt know were id put it all after, na meen? although i did have an empty mcdonalds bag...

get enough rest the night before. sip on a drink but dont chug...u dont wanna piss every 20 minutes. dont worry, ull b fine. 10 hrs really isnt that long. used to do daytona fla to pittsburgh regularly. 16 hrs.

Don't know if you're down for something like this, but XM/sirius radio is always a good choice for long drives...we have two for the family and whoever needs it gets it.

Some fairly decent talk shows/comedy/music.

By yourself driving don't do this, but mushrooms while being a passenger is pretty awesome.

Get your ipod and load it with music. Experiment with different genres and decide what songs you like. Look at music objectively while you drive.

not sure if you use a radar detector but they're illegal in VA so just a heads up. Also if you're passing through New Jersey it's illegal to talk on your cell phone while driving in that state. good luck with your trip

10 hours seems like a super long time, but when you are in the middle of the trip it won't be so bad.

i drove from wi to ut basically straight through, and i just had a bunch of music on my ipod and in cd's that i listened to.

i also would play with the radio on scan a bit to see what the areas had for local public access radio (think am or below 93.0 on the fm dial). some of that stuff is entertaining because it makes you think or become mentally engaged in the convo, and some is entertaining because it is so ridiculous.

make sure you are comfy in your seat though, and bring some basic tools just in case something goes wrong (including a flashlight)

bring you a flashlight, blanket, shovel, extra clothes (just incase), pain killers, jumpercables, maby one of those everything things ya know what im talking about? it has a set of jumper cables that come out of the thing and the device is charged so you dont have to flag down some one... a knife... food and water for sure!!!!!
skis?

Books on tape are the best idea! Passes time reaslly quick. Harry Potter on tape all the way!haha or Old man at sea is a good few hours.

weed, weed, weed, if you don't want to get caught with bud make some firecrackers and you'll be less likely to get caught and you'll be higher for longer. if your interested send me a message and I'll tell you how to make them. and lots of your favorite music.

make sure you got some comedy skits on your mp3 so you wont just be listening to music the whole way
