and... when we went to go get our plywood cut. there was giant sheets of what looked like cardboard, with a vinyl or some kind of shiny, extremely slippery topping.

i forgot what it was called, but it looked like cardboard from the side, and was super cheap. i'm wondering if anyones ever seen it or tried it on a box
 
From my experience, slippery to the touch does not mean slippery on skis. It usually means soft, which is no good for grinding.
 
It was kind of like the stuff with all the holes in it that you can put hooks through them and hang tools on them. Except it didnt have the holes. The stuff would not work, it felt like cardboard.
 
yeah, it might be like a mdf board covered with laminate. The first time that gets wet it'll turn into sawdust. I saw a piece of flat pvc at lowes, it might have been used for siding or something but that would be good to use. Its like $25 for 10ft. If you get it, you could countersink it into a piece of plywood and then build a frame.
 
ive used stuff like that before and some other stuff thats like micah countertop and if its not solid wood inside dont use it because that plywood shit on the inside will get waterlogged and expamnd and completely fuck up the box.
 
first off this stuff is masonite and they use it for skateboard ramps like at indor parks it probably will nver work
 
i dont know what its called but it sounds to soft.......i use this stuff called melamine i think thats how you spell it anyways its great stuff way creep and slides way good got a bunch of boxes with it on... its got a white top and every once any a while i spray it with like wd-40 or pledge to keep it oily
 
it is called coraplast. they use it for small signs. my dad has allot of it for his sign company and it is definitaly NOT slippery for skiing. major soft too.
 
I think i kow what your talkiing about if its like dry erase board and about 10 dollars for a 4x8 sheet. its works alright but i have metal coping on my box so im sliding on tht i will be buying some hdpe soon though and i would recomond just buying that my friend uses and has no problems and its pretty much one of the cheapest things youl finfd that will work. get it from mc master carrs there very resonable.
 
dont use it, it swells really bad when it gets wet and the little bit of plastic on the top shreads off after only a couple of hits,
