what are some good programs to start out with (like Virtual DJ) that's easy to understand to use and great for beginners....I've been trying to learn on Virtual DJ and it's gettin there...but is there an easier program to start off with?
 
There is no easier program, virtual dj will teach you the ropes until you can afford some decks.btw try not to use the sync button itll help a ton later on
 
virtual DJ is hard to figure out. I tried it knowing no knowledge of DJing whatsoever just to check it out. After watching some videos of how to use it. I got to know what to do and that shit can be mad fun. I'm a beginner as well looking to get into it and I'm going to download Traktor
 
Bump, the guy I'm gonna be taking lessons from uses Virtual DJ as well as some nice Numark turntables and an Allen and Heath mixer.
 
the only thing you really need to be a good dj, is to be a fucking enciclopediae on music.

what kind of music do you want to mix ?

 
DJing takes literally no talent.
all you have to do is understand how a basic DJ program works, understand BPMs and understand flow and movement between different music. Easiest way to get pussy at a party is to DJ.
 
depends on how intense you want to get with it. if you're just djing college or highschool parties, all you really need to be able to do is use loops and blend two songs into one another. if you're trying to do shows at clubs or bars, you're gonna need to be more advanced
 
you can use it to mix too, but honestly you should try producing instead. djing takes no talent, producing is much better imo

if by djing you mean having a playlist and some transition then yes it takes no talent, but it s also not djing....

being a good dj requires a lot of talent and a great knowledge of music..

i dont think any of you guys who say that djing takes no talent could make a decent hour long set of minimal or deep house, or even regular house....
 
To those saying DJing takes no talent, that's pure ignorance. If you're just playing requests, and fading them into eachother at the end then yeah, you can learn how to do that in minutes. But really DJing is so much more involved and there's no way you can say that a good DJ doesn't have talent.
And Ableton, though sick for producing, remixing, and making mashups, is not the best at actually allowing you to DJ live. It can be good to accompany other software if you're using multiple controllers though.
Traktor is the best DJ software that I know of, and it's as simple or as complicated as you want it to be.
 
get mixx for free play with that for a while, then wait till october and buy the new traktor s2 controller that will be coming out.
 
yeah, the home version, not the full one I could use to actually DJ. The home one doesn't do I/O midi controls
 
you have no idea what you are talking about... I know a few people that would choke you out after laughing in your face for saying that. Look up some DJs like z-trip and JFB, you couldn't mix anything like that live without years of experience.
