So I want to make Roller Skis

I got a pair of old twin tips with a lot of edge damage as well as core shots and overall damage. I want to make something fun out of them and Wanted to know if making roller skis out of them would be a decent idea.

They are 174cm in length and under 90 underfoot. I just figured cutting for a wheel in the tip and tail on both would work and then another wheel in front and behind the binding would do it, so a total for 8 wheels. I don't really have any other ideas on them besides that so any advice would be much appreciated.

I had the same idea, like skateboard trucks but smaller right before the tip and tail. you would still be able to slide rails normally. It would be cool in the summer or something so you wouldnt need to build a drop in

So I thought that taking a dremel to the sections where I want to put a wheel and simply putting a bracket onto that section/area would work fine, maybe a bracket that uses the surrounding area of the ski for support and keeps the wheel mid-line center and neutral to the ski.

Yeah do it I'm curious to see how it would turn out. Use rubber wheels and post pictures if you do it. I'm considering doing the same thing

So I just thought of it, if you cut all the way through the ski, wide enough for a wheel, and then put an axle through the ski (width wise) without delaming it or ruining in general, it would work, right?

the skis would flex to the ground and bottom out under foot for sure lol. you'd have to use multiple trucks and even have some just outside of the foot to make it work, it wouldn't work if you only put them on the tip and tail for sure

Did that years ago doesnt work as good as youd think. I had 4 wheels on each and the skis still nearly flexed out and It was basically impossible to turn

I've seen a lot of attempts at homemade roller skis and none of them ever seem to work. Just burn the skis as a sacrifice to the snow gods or save them for an urban ski.

Do it man. A guy who graduated a while ago made a pair and would always go to the skatepark and tear shit up. Only problem is that it's hard to turn.
