im sorry but you fail so much. why wouldnt you just take your skis to your local ski shop for them to fix or tell you what to do instead of trusting a youtube video?
the edge on my old ar5's blew out a bit ago, only a few inches. I tried 3 times to fix it with different bonds and expoys, nothing worked for more than a few runs. take it to a shop that can guarantee their work or move on to fancy new skis.
fail? never! I thought they looked just like new now?
Your right tho should probably of taken them to the shop but this is the second time this shit has went down and tried to give it a bash myself. not the best of ideas!
yes, welding is easy with the right type of welder and someone who knows what they are doing. you gotta be really careful with the heat from the weld heating the ski up too much. tig is the best bet for that thin edge.
epoxy that shit; parkskis will still work pefectly with only a small piece of edge missing + it wont break again....
and soldering isn't the way to replace an edge, either epoxy or (altough it seems very weird to me) weld it....
OPs problem is that he bought Amplids. My freind ripped the edge out of two pairs of dogmas within 20 days. My townships ripped out on day 21. NOw both of my right edges no longer have any edge and my one left edge is randomly ripping out a little over halfway between tip and center, there is no edge crack it just feels like pulling out. Once you loose a piece of edge it doesnt stop on those skis
thats a really bad soldering job, did you practice alittle before? anyways you would need to weld it id say if you want to fix it with out spending money, file or grind it off? haha good luck!
try some different epoxy;
i used to have regular epoxy to fix my skis booboos and it worked ok, but then i got some marine grade flexible epoxy and it just rocked!!
no more chipping or cracking of the epoxy....
and edges blowing out is something you hear of (almost) EVERY ski brand; its just something that happens; one batch of skis against the other can differ a lot ....
