So I went a whole 2 weeks after quitting newschoolers, and I plan on staying away after this issue is resolved, but I felt I HAD to share this online and get some advice. I must say no Newschoolers was really nice, as I before wasted many hours browsing around(which were indeed entertaining, but none the less a waste of time). Anyhow something possibly amazing happened to me this morning...

I hopped in the shower like any regular day, shampooed my hair, then began to lather up with a trusty bar of Lever Moisturized Soap. Dear readers, this is where things got interesting. I scrubbed a bit with the soap, only to feel a slight disturbance in the normally velvety bar of soap. The bar had a scratchy characteristic to it which was irritating my skin. Thinking it was some sort of calcium deposit or something, I used my thumb to try and scrape off the not so enjoyable matter. Only that matter didn't want to scrape off. I dug around for a minute and examined the bar only to find a shard of FUCKING GLASS. A jagged piece of glass about the size of a penny, lodged inside my bar of soap. What the fuck!!!! I am not going to imagine how this landed in my soap of choice, but I certainly will imagine the richest to be made from the manufactures negligence. I ask you newschoolers, what if any kind of case I have against Lever, a multi-million dollar corporation. I am not one to sue and think the people who do it are generally scumbags, but this is absolutely ridiculous. Anyone could have easily cut an artery or something awful. Please let me know what you think. Heres a picture...

probably right, but at the time I wanted to know what the hell it was. I had to wash off a bunch of soap around it to realize what it was.

sue.

but not for like 30923785079248308975340 dollers. just enough to make sure they dont let it happen again

if you feel bad about it then donate the money but things like this are why people are supposed to be allowed to sue, its not like you spilled coffee on yourself and decided to sue

i say dont sue, based on you hating the people who do sue all the time. yes, if you were to id say that you have an alright reason, but i would just contact the company and tell them waht happened, that your really unhappy about it and see how that goes. then make your decision

word man, if I made a bundle I would definitely not change my lifestyle what so ever...and I would donate a good chunk for sure. I hate stupid lawsuits, but this is just absurd.

Also, this isn't some little company like Toms of Maine. I would NEVER sue a company like that, EVER. But we have Lever which is made by Unilever. "The corporation sells products in over 150 countries and has annual sales of approximately $ 46 billion."

My family once found a steel nut from machinery in a string cheese, it was visible through the wrapper so we never opened it. My mom took pics of it and sent them in telling the company, and all they wanted to give in compensation was a gift basket, probably filled with lame cheese. I'm sure we could have hired a lawyer and easily won a lawsuit, but it wasn't really worth it

I agree

People need to take responsibility for their actions. Did the glass cut your artery? No. so why sue? If it cut your or someone elses artery then sue. This is just the same as falling on a rail in a terrain park and narrowly missing a jagged rock to the side of the feature that could harm you. WOuld most skiers sue? probably not, they would probably tell the park crew or ski patrol to close the feature. Remember Kevin Salvini or whatever the hell his name was that sued the mountain in Washington and now RCR doesnt build jumps. That is whats wrong with this country people are to sue happy and the lawyers run the country.

Yeah man thats a tough decision, you definitely have grounds to sue, but still, there are alot of people who sue for shitty reasons and ruin shit for other people. I guess just think of what the consequences might be, in this scenario I'd say if anything, they'd be good ones, sooooo you should go for it

Especially since you hate frivolous lawsuits, don't sue. You should just call unilever, let them know what happened, and maybe ask for a bunch of free soap or something.

I mean, you say this is crazy, but did you get hurt? Can you get nasty infections from glass (glass surrounded by soap)? What are the odds of that glass cutting someone badly before they figured out something was in their soap? I mean, it's not like the glass would just fall out.

Was what happened to you shitty? Yes. You should not, however, sue over a most likely honest mistake. You try to justify yourself through saying you would sue them for enough to make sure it didnt happen again, but it is very unlikely this is something other than an impossible to avoid freak accident.

Don't be a hypocrite and sue for something that didn't actually even hurt you. Not to mention theres no way to prove that shard of glass came from your soap.

I think you're wrong on every point except the first one, people need to take responsibility for their actions, the people at lever soap need to take responsibility. It's unacceptable that soap left their factory with a harmfull object in it. You comparision to hitting a rock next to a rail sucks, maybe if a ski area had steel barbs sticking out of the rail, which would be unsafe, something they would need to take responsibilty for if they set it up in their park which they are charging people to use. The Kenny Salvini comparison also sucks. It's not like he didn't know how to use the soap. Maybe if he was using soap on a rope and choked himself out you might be able to use that argument.

I doubt this is the only bar that has glass in it, you need to take action immediatly then they can issue a recall if neccesary, so more people don't get hurt.

those are two totaly different situations. did he know that the soap was dangerous? was there a lable on the package that said use at you own risk, soap may contain glass?

dude I totally see what your saying and for the most part agree, however, I wouldn't be suing to prevent this from happening again...I would sue because I absolutely hate most big corporations. This is pocket change to them and if I can use that money in a much better way I am going to. Fuck if I got a ton of money I would with out question donate a shit load of it. Corporations screw us and do immoral things every day, yet I don't hear any of you saying that.(those who think I shouldn't sue) I am without question suing.

dude give yourself a couple good scratches with that glass... then make sure you put that shit BACK in the bar. You could easily make half a million dollars.

hahha fuck yeah! While I have thought about hurting myself, that to me is way to shady and dishonest. As much as I wish I had hurt myself, Im definitely not going down that road...

You should sue for several millions... but they will settle fairly low. If you need advice and help... I do know the right people to talk to.

I definitely won't feel bad if something comes out of this case... "Unilever's status as a large multinational has attracted a variety of criticisms from political activists [15]. For example, it has been criticised for causing environmental pollution by Greenpeace [16], for testing products on animals by PETA, and for making use of child labour [17], among others. Unilever is currently targetted by Greenpeace UK[18], who have criticised the company for buying palm oil from suppliers who are destroying Indonesia's rainforests.

You should call a lawyer.

Or ask one of your friends to ask their dad if hes a lawyer and see if its a legit case.

If its legit, go for it.

hahaha are you serious? half a dozen people aready pointed out that his post was the worst one in the thread. LOL and you think it was perfectly stated, go jump in a lake.

Ya you could slit your throat with that...rubbing it on your neck and a sharp piece is sticking out and slices you right up...definately sue for this one...

yeah, i was away from my computer, for a couple of hours and when i came back, this is what was on my page, haha i never read the rest of the thread, my bad haha

make sure the peice of soap is still attached to the glass, and sue them. to get more money give yourself a little cut with it

I was eating a microwaveable chimichanga buritto and there was a big piece of plastic in it, and when i bit down it hurt. i didnt sue though.

Contact the company but DO NOT SAY you don't want to sue. They will kiss your ass to keep you from suing. My mom found a needle in her bread and she got free bread for a VERY long time, but that was actually worth a lawsuit IMO, since it was in food.

This reminds me of the episode of Kenan and Kel when Kenan found a screw in his tuna and he tried to sue.

Kel dropped the screw in the tuna.

Worse comparison ever, this is a bar of soap were talking about, not a terrain park feature. Soap is a necessity, literally everyone uses it and it's a product which everyone would think would be "safe". This isn't like that kevin guy who went off a jump and hurt himself, he obviously should have known the risk involved when you go off a jump and fly threw the air. However in this situation who the hell would think using soap could cause major health injuries.

A jagged piece of glass is a huge health hazard, if he didn't notice it he easily could have cut an artery open. Just because you didn't get hurt that means you shouldn't sue, the company obviously has some serious manufacturing flaws, a multi million dollar is the only thing that would make the company change its procedures drastically, not a friendly email reminder.

Were not talking about spilling coffee on your self or some bullshit like that. This is something which easily could have resulted in some serious health consequences from a product which is deemed "safe", these are the situations in which you should sue.

FUck Corporations. Sue those bastards, get money and give it to the poor people that these bastards exploit in foreign countries

that could have been very dangerous. and how the hell does a glass shard get into soap. some pissed off employee might have placed it there. i say go meet with a lawyer and see if you have a case. if you do, win some money, and donate some to ns.

I say sue them man. I am not a fan of lawsuits, but if someone obviously fucked up, then they need to be punished for it. In this case the manufacturer made a big fuck up and they deserve to know that they were in the wrong. Shit, I even let my brother sue a ski hill because their maintinance worker hit him with a snowmobile... mainly suing to cover the medical bills, but there's enough for him to buy himself a nice new ride haha. I would never condone someone to make some bogus lawsuit.

well said. I am definitely suing and am getting word tomorrow on what kind of a case I will have. My friends sister works for the DA of New York State, so he's going to talk with her about it. Ill let everyone know whats up tomorrow.

this is a company's absolute greatest fear...their product had a dangerous defect that could injure someone and cause them to get sued badly..

even though you want to, do the right thing and don't sue unilever. Just call them or send and email with a picture and ask how they want to handle it, and I'm sure theyll be so releived youre not sueing that they might give you money or free soap or something.
