totally on accident, of course...
i just flew home from CO cause ive got to take the LSAT in a couple weeks and i need to isolate to study
i havent been home for a few weeks, and when i got back i noticed my dad left this box on our ping pong table full of cool shit. apparently it was his "treasure box" from when he was little and it's been hidden in my grandma's attic for like 40 years. he just went and grabbed it the other day cause she died over the summer.
so there was something totally amazing in it, which is too cool to talk about on NS, but i was messing with it and didnt notice til afterward that there were mouse droppings and obvious blue crystals (rat poison) in the bottom. apparently my grandma just threw the shit all over the place instead of calling a professional exterminator to deal with her mouse problem. i immediately went and washed my hands but i had already stirred my post-flight cocktail with a potentially contaminated finger and finished the drink
now i think i feel sorta funny in a non-drunk kind of way, but i dont think im going to die or anything, i just might have some residual rat poison in my system...
definitely not cool, and there's really no point to this except that it would be a creepy thread for NS to have in its history if i dont survive the night. oh well, im gonna crash, ill let you know how it goes...or not.

Haha I love how your so chill about it and accepted your fate, but really call the nurse hot line or poison center. There should be a number on the back of the rat poison.

we're talking decades-old rat poison here, it was just loose among the hundreds of mouse poops in the bottom of my dad's box of stuff, no fucking idea where it came from
i would call poison control but i honestly dont think im in that much trouble. rats eat huge chunks of this shit to get killed, which to human proportions would equal basically eating a cheeseburger made entirely of poison. that's not to say ingesting ANY amount is good, but i think at most i only got a trace dose. and i think that shit works by making you terminally dehydrated, and im not thirsty, so i dont think im fucked.

i'm pretty sure you have to consume a shitload of that stuff to die.

so like, 5 years ago when i was a sophomore in high school these two crazy girls made a suicide pact together and went out into the woods one day after school & they went out behind the library and they consumed a bunch of rat poison then one of them stabbed the other but she freaked out and clearly changed her mind about the whole suicide thing and ran & called the cops. turns out they took a shitload of ratpoison but it still wasnt enough to cause fatal damage. so yeah, thats how I know you gotta take a lot to get fucked. cool story right.

last night i was flipping through channels and stopped on csi miami just in time to see the russian mob poision a prisoners food using rat poison from the floor of the prison kitchen. i immediatly scoffed and turned it off while saying to myself "seriously? rat poison? no way that would ever happen"

and then you go and prove me wrong.

also, i am also curious as to what stood out to you so much in a box of treasures you were willing to dig through rodent shit and the poison used to kill them in order to grasp it.

you are fine. a lot of rat poisons are shit we use in humans to treat diseases, just in smaller doses. i doubt touching it then touching your drink really affected you at all.
the real question is why would touch rat shit then touch your drink? i would be more worried about disease from a rodent then getting poisoned right now...

still alive, calm down everyone, i knew i wasnt going to die
and i didnt "dig through rodent shit and rat poison" to get to anything, it was lying on top of all the other stuff, but it had all been there so long that once i noticed the poison and crap it seemed obvious that everything in the box was probably contaminated
and when i say "it", i mean one of these:
http://www.collectorsfirearms.com/admin/product_details.php?itemID=9262

which is a pretty sick thing to just find in your grandmother's attic...it was my great granddad's revolver from the civil war
and when i say it's "too cool to talk about in NSG" what i mean is that i feel like there's a 50/50 chance this is just going to turn into a pro vs. anti gun thread now for no fucking reason

dumbass, obviously, i created this thread last night and i just posted like 5 minutes ago...unless rat poison waits 10 hours to kick in id say im ok...

yes, i tried to eat a gun, that's what happened, amazing...
and no, it doesnt work, but we're planning on taking it to a gunsmith to get it back cycling again soon...but it's cap-and-ball, so even if it got into firing shape again i really have no fucking clue how to deal with that kind of ammunition, it hasnt been used since the 1800's

I knew a kid who used to roll rat poison in his buglars. So youre fine. He used to get all red and sweat profusley and weeze. If this happens induce vomiting. and drink mad water. but seriously your fine. Id be more worried about to rat shit in your drink than the rat poison.

what a fantastic heirloom to find from your family history.

not even considering the value of something like that, what an awesome thing to discover in an attic.

this is what people dream about when they watch antique roadshow.

i hope this doesn't dissolve into summer nsg badgering.

congratulations on your find.
