So i got an ibook for my birthday yay happy birthday for me :) haha

anyways im wondering what you all reccomend for learning a mac and anything regarding that. Im also looking for a program that will let me rip the music i have on my nano onto my ibook (link for this would be great) i already got firefox but id love to hear every1 elses ideas of what to install.

a couple quick questions: A) how do i make the windows take up the whole screen like in firefox. is this possible?

B) my internet is being very very slow is there a way to speed this up in the settings (wireless internet)

and anything else worth saying i would love to hear:)

thanks

dude, awesome...welcome to the club...as far as wireless goes, go into ur applications folder in ur hard drive and open internet connect and check ur signal strength under airport...use safari as a web browser its the best....and get limewire (search in google)..just play around till u get used to it

yeah i picked me up an ibook this fall on ebay, they are dope. i found limewire pro online and i also use torrentspy to download stuff, but the mac is legit and it runs faster than any PC ive ever used.

To bigbromskier (sp) i want to rip OFF my nano ONTO my ibook.

Is safari faster than firefox? i use firefox on my windows and i like it there...

Is there any widgets that you highly reccomend?

yeah i use the powderfone widget (it displays the freshest snow on the globe within the last 24 hours), the accuweather widget and the radar one, u can download thousands of them at apple.com

take advantage of widgets they are mini apps that always run(look in ur Dock on the left hand side)

also get limewire and use safari! i tried both and safari is better for me/faster

i also like to use Ichat instead of AIM, its a diff program and u can edit the names so u see real names instead of screen names. its easier for me.

i downloaded Safari Speed that speeds up my internet i got it off download.com i think. it seems faster but i dont know if it really works.

another question i dont like msn messenger... for some reason it refuses to work half the time on my ibook so does anyone have a link to an mac compatable msn messanger alternative

yea but i use msn messenger so i need something that works with a @hotmail.com adress

one more question how do you ALT + TAB on a mac?

The best way to rip music from your ipod onto your ibook is a program called iPodRip, you can download it from download.com, just search.

internet always slows down a little when i becomes wireless. to make the window full screen, click the green button on the top left on the window, it won't make it full screen, but it will make it larger. you can also download firefox for macs

try fire

i like it better cause all your conversations can be in the same window. plus it works with a lot of services, maybe msn

i have both of those, and get SlothCam its a live webcam of a ton of places in the world. I have mine on timesquare

for a msn alternative you can use:

-gaim

-amsn

-admium

I have an ibook and I prefer using amsn for my @hotmail.com chatting

personally i think iChat is best, especially with the audio feature its so convenient, and also to rip programs senuti will work, i have gotten all my friends music, but its a little tricky so if u need help pm me, and also limewire pro and bittorrent are what i use for download stuff

I've been using an ibook for about 4 months, I didnt know about the apple+shift+4, that is pretty dope. The SlothCam is sweet too... anybody else know some sweet mac stuff that you use?

if you hit controll+Option+Apple+8 it inverses your colors

if you hit option+apple+[plus or minus] it zooms in or out
