Basically long story short, in between the volume up/down keys i dented the aluminum divider a minuscule amount. No big deal right? Wrong. The disk drive refuses to accept a disk. I do have Applecare but i doubt ill get any coverage from that.
Damages: 1) the aluminum divider between keys is bent a tiny amount.2) the volume up key is cracked a tiny amount3) the disk drive will not accept a disk
How fucked am I? is this going to be a cheap or free fix covered by apple care or am i going to spend the 800 i was planning on using for a spring break ski trip on fixing my stupid ass dent.

if its not covered by apple care (i dunno anything about your original problem, sorry) and its not cheap, you might consider buying a portable disk drive. I don't think they are too expensive.

Damn dude that sucks. My friend just dropped my other friends Macbook pro from 2 stories on to rock hard tile. Needless to say the lap top case is bent to shit and it won't close but atleast it still works. It's gonna cost somewhere around 800$ to fix the case alone. Wish I could help you out more.. +vibes

I can't tell if the above post is a joke or if he doesn't know about the faunt getting bigger. Call them or something and ask?

a picture is damn near pointless, you can hardly see it if you look as hard as you can let alone in a picture. thats part of why im so pissed. its such a tiny fucking dent.

for the record.

dibs on the broken macbook that is soon to be for sale.

any signs of physical damage (besides normal wear and tear) and your applecare warranty is voided.

i dropped mine out of the car after a trip and it dented the side and the back cover wouldnt go on to protect the battery...i took it to the mac store and they charged me one flat fee to fix everything on the computer hardware and software related...might be like 50 bucks or so but its worth it

read my question. i know what a external disk drive is. i don't want one. I want to know how much it will cost to fix. I dont like having a computer with fucked up internals.

you fucked up when you dropped the glass of milk on your keyboard.

as for everyone else, the dent isn't even visible unless you remove all the keys in the surrounding area so apple care will take care of the broken optic drive.
the only problem is that its going to be a bitch because i use this computer every day for school so i have to wait for thanksgiving break to get it fixed. fuck...

fix the dent by putting a screwdriver in the hard drive and jiggling it around LIGHTLY.

no joke, the IT office at my school did this to my macbook and now the disk drive works again.

no i mean the DISK drive. where you put the DISCS in. hard drive is also easy to fuck around with, google how to on a macbook. ive done it, with pics

apple does not cover cosmetic damage. try to find a repair center that does apple under warranty, that isn't an official apple shop, but an authorized one. they might fix it for you. same thing happened to me, but i dropped my laptop and had a giant gash on top of the disc drive and they fixed everything up for me under my warranty, because they basically said, either way we get paid. good luck.
