So I got new skis....

I don't know much about ski sizes, so I'm looking for advice/people to help me out.

So a 2 months or so ago, I went to Ski Rack to get some new skis. Had one of employees help me out. They didn't have much in stock, but I saw a pair that looked like they would work out ok. Solomon foils, 174cm. I talk to the employee guy about them, tell him I'm looking to do all types of skiing, and probably get back into park (didn't ski last year, had surgery). I'm 5'10 about 165-70 pounds. I've been skiing for 6 or 7 years, and I know what I'm doing on the mountain. The employee there said the 174's would work fine on any terrain I ski, including the park. I go for it, buy the skis and mount on some bindings.

After looking around online, most of the guides and everything say that 174 is real big for a kid my size, looking to ski around some park. It's makin me worry pretty bad, cause I dropped over 600 on skis, bindings and mounting them. I'm gonna be skiing at Jay Peak this year, and looking to ski all terrain. Are these skis going to be too big to do everything including park?

thats not too big at all. at 5'10" you could even ride a 178 no problem. and with 6 or 7 years under your belt you should be completely fine.

A 174 is def not too small, thats a good size for an east coast ski fo sho. long enough to rip, but short enough for the trees considering your weight.

I live in burlington and know a bunch of the guys that work at ski rack, their good shit and know what their doing.

yeah dude like everybody said, if anything they are on the shorter side. im 5 8 155 and have 178's and they are perfect size.

first of all the foils are super sick skis, youll love em. second of all length is fine for sure. you might even wish they were a bit longer at some point

That ski is perfect for your. The guys at Ski Rack are good man, don't worry.

I'm 5'7" 150 lbs. on a good day, riding 175 ARVs in the park.
