So i busted my head.

270 onto sketch picnic table thats been sitting outside since last season..skis stopped bashed my head off the snow/ice (east coast)...got back up..was like "i better do that right this time"..did it right..ski'd away..on the char lift up i started losing my mind..did'nt really have any idea where i was or anything..so i got to the top and my friends convinced me to take a walk to the patrol room...(i guess i was insisting on another run)...so i walk in..and im friends with all the patrollers at my home mtn. being i am a patroller part time...so they look at me and i know how im always messin around and falling, plus they had been trying to convince me to go to the hospital for my shoulder a few days earlier, so they figured i must have fell on it good this time..then they realized i had no idea what was goin on...and 20 min later i was in a copter on my way to a head trauma center...(i went unconcious in the patrol room)..woke up in that hospital about 4 hrs later..and spent the night and now im home..pretty ridic. Severe concussion was all and some pain in the neck still..but im still waiting the results of my EEG. and we'll see..ill be back on skis. wed. hopefully...

still by a new one, most are single impact, i got a concussion last weekend, but i was by myself so no one was there to tell me to go to the patroll room, instead i drove home...2 hours....and i didnt go to the doctors for 5 days....dont ask why, so a week and a couple days later i still have a throbbing headache

Jesus man, take it easy, do not worry about getting on your skis anytime soon. Getting a concussion is pretty damn serious, you can only get so many serious ones in a lifetime. I would probably take at least a month off if not more. Get your spine and neck x-rayed would probably be a good idea, maybe see a chiropractor.
How did you get the concussion again?

yo, i was in the hospital over night..had a full body cat scan, x rays of my neck and spine, and an EEG..and there is no way im takin a month of skiing off.

a fucking month? wayyyyyyy too much, although concussions are serious, they are nothing that bad dude. a month off on the east coast would make you miss like half the season. maybe like take off till saturday though...

The helmet probably hurt him a little bit actually, since he hit his head and didn't really notice at first...If he had no helmet he would be in right away and to the hospital earlier where they may have been able to keep him awake.

but without one he could have also just cracked his head open and been knocked unconcious immediately. he would have gone right in but in much worse circumstances

yea def not amonth off. just make sure your head and neck are fine. and he is right about only getting a few serious ones. ive been told if i get even 1-2 more serious ones i may get brain damage. imnot really sure how many concussions ive had maybe 15 or something 5 of them pretty bad. i no for a fact that i have a bad memory because of it. just take er easy, and get a new helmet becuase not smart fallin on the same one twice. (experience)

sounds pretty harsh, i think you should be taking atleast a week off, from personal concussion experience where i have only been knocked out for like 20 seconds at the most thats how long i have usually taken off, and u were out for 4 hours, so take it easy out there, hope your feeling better soon

you should have been wearing you`re

my brother was wearing a G10 mx this weekend and he hit his head(not that bad) but he was still in a lot of pain, prob more than necessary than w another helmet..

Heya-

I fractured my skull (cheerleading, not skiing) but the only thing that happened was a trip to a neurosurgeon and an MRI (love 'em) and my memory was messed up for a little while.

Then...a couple months later (closing day at MJ!) I ate it pretty hard and wrapped a pole 90 degrees around my head (another fracture) and jacked up my hand. But we kept skiing and it was fine. Everything was just funnier than normal (i think)

dude that hella sucks man, know what you're goin through thow had that happen to me last year, had to wear one of those neck brace things for a month, it sucked, get better man

but if he hit his head hard enough even with a helmet on to get that bad of a concussion, without a helmet it sounds like he may even be dead

yeah man i know the feeling... Sunday i was skiing and filming these tables at my resort. well it was my first run hittin the tables cause i was filming before hand. Well i pull a five on the first turn around skip the second and just looked at it and went on to the third. I went for a backflip off the 3rd kicker caught my tips and slammed. level 2 concussion the doctors said. I had a helmet on to lol

I dont even know how i wrecked, Backflips are so easy and i have them down pac.

But im recovering now and will be ripping it soon, good luck on your recovery to man

damn dude.. that heli ride is gonna fuckin set ya back. i mean i hope your head is okay.. but now you gotta worry about the outrageous price of an emt heli ride.

Fuck man i had that happen to me last year. Not even as close to as extreme though. I was all sick, had the worst headache, really tired, and grumpy. I crashed on a down street style rail.

where did that happen at?? i saw some guy do that last season...it was kinda funny cause his skis were just stickin up in the snow...but props to everyone

something similar happened to me this year, one of the terrain parks at my mtn. has a rail line with a rope tow and at the end of it they have a picnic table, and ii tried to gap 180 the entire thing which i did but i didnt 180 and i face planet into the snow and ice was all in my face and all i could hear was a buzzing noise. i got up and after 5 seconds it was gone. i felt out of it and then i started to forget stuff. i knew where i was but i would try and remember something but i couldnt. it wore off though after an hour. that whole weekend after the crash i was wayyyy out of it i was skiing awful. the next day i broke my collar bone it sucked big time but i dont think i got a concussion i thought i was going to pass out when i was going up the rope tow im lucky i didnt because i already got hit in the head hard from hockey, not a concussion though. sucks for you i would just take a week off.
