along with abay saying 12 inches, vail 16, loveland, 16. but somehow beaver creek only 4....

can anyone confirm the deepness of these totals? (not doubting loveland and abay but vail and breck tend to over exaggerate)
 
It was shitting all day and Bronco on 10 was about boot deep after only a few hours, so I could see that being true.
 
it's mostly because their snow stake is at a new spot higher up the mountain. so definitely not in town but up top yeah, especially with a warm elevational storm like we've had

Vail had about 6" in their parks this morning. I have no idea what the rest of the mountain got. But As of 2pm today, Blue Sky hadn't opened in the last 2 days.
 
breck was about 18 inches tops. And all of summit county showed up there. The first 2 hours were great and then the lines became unbearable, so I dipped out to a basin, where they said a foot, and it was totally true, and totally empty and super rad.
 
sounds like i didnt miss that much at breck. BUT berthoud pass was closed during the entire storm so tomorrow the gettin' is gonna be good, with another 5 to 8 inches forecast into thursday!

were they running the high lifts the first day of the storm? Loveland wasn't, so today was extra special.
 
i have been all over the area, but the regular people said the tops were closed for the two days, so if you were man enough to go out of the park there was def 26"
 
I'm aware, I really think everywhere should have 12 hour reports like other states... not to mention snow stake cams like crested and copper do.

 
Definitely a solid twelve at A-Basin today. I was third one into Zuma Bowl when the rope dropped, and first one out. Best 6 turns of the month.
 
I was only planning on doing some mellow laps on lower hells, mostly because i can ski at 7:30 and leave at 11:30 to make it to work by 1.
 
yeah when they opened E chair for the first time all year the whole waiting lift line was just passin bowls and joints around. such a good day.
 
You need to ask yourself this question: If Keystone reported 4inches and Breck reported 26 and they are owned by the same resort company......then why would Breck lie about the total?
 
Because breck is vail resorts cash cow. And 9 out of 10 times they over report. The 24 hour report is so stupid.
 
Breckenridge is one of the most popular resorts in North America with skier visits- yes. However, do you personally know anyone on the Breck Ski Patrol? Do you work for Vail Resorts? How long have you lived in Summit? It is understood that Keystone gets far less snow than the surrounding ski areas in Summit County and if you have been here long enough you would notice that. Keystone is promoted just as much as Breckenridge, why would Vail Resorts try to belittle Keystone Resort? Of course they want as many skier visits as Breck. Many people on vacation prefer Keystone over Breck for many reasons. The 24 hour report is reported at 5am in case you didnt know......If you ski Breck enough all around the mountain, you will believe how much snow there is.
 
agreed, i think someone may have messed up a lil on the snow report though. key prob had about 8 inches that morning, not 4.

there is also rumours that vail resorts inc has been trying to sell keystone and pick up copper instead, but the county wont allow it becuase then vail resorts would become a monopoly.

there was def 26 inches that fell at breck over a 24hr period that day, i was there i seeent it! check out my last video edit if you dont beleive me. it was soooo sick!

btw, the 26 inches reported that day was the most snow reported in a single day at breck since 18 years ago!
 
The Copper thing was never actually true. When Intrawest was dumping Copper, Someone at Vail might have said it would be nice, but nothing was even remotely looked into. This is the reason they don't outright own A-basin though.. cause it would be a monopoly.
They were only ever rumors and it is no longer relevant at all because Powdr has absolutely zero intention of selling Copper in the next 30 years.

Breck received that much in locations, but the snowstake at Breck has been moved to a more favorable location and the storm was loading on west facing slopes and with the wind... hense the high reading. Probably wasn't an average, but it just so happened that that particular storm was great for the location of the new snow stake. CPFC wrote quite a bit on this since people in Breck were only reporting around a foot at their homes and what not.
And yes, I was there with you, it was snowing really really hard, but just as much at Copper/Frisco. In town the amounts were pretty Identical. But copper is mostly north facing and Breck is west facing.. So yeah, same snow fell on both peaks, but the wind/direction favored Breck.
