So, are my bindings screwed? (pics)

to start off i have solly s912 ti's from a couple years back on my rossignol scratches. the past week or two i had been noticing that i was pre releasing doing small stuff like 2's on or off rails. so today i took a closer look at my bindings and found that the bindings were breaking off around the rear left screw in the heel piece. the screw is fine but the plastic around it is fragged.

both skis have the same problem. i cant remount with different bindings because the skis have been mounted three times. so are these skis done for?

i would say that they are done. just throw some gorilla glue in that crack and use them for beating around.

ya, binding is toast. the 3 mount saying is more of a guide line than a rule. you could remount with a different pair but depending on how well the other holes were plugged and how far the new holes are from the old ones will dictate the integrity of the mount

yeah, untill i get the $$$ for a complete new setup i think im going to just have to get new bindings and hope the skis hold up.

no there not there salomon... just go to the shop and get a new black plastic peice. this is the reason you only buy sth salomon bindings or not salomon at all...

first, im not sure what you are trying to say "no there not there salomon... " no shit they're salomon, i already said that.

and these were sollys top end bindings when i bought them. the sth were two years from coming out when these were on the market.

and as for just picking up a new black plastic piece its not that easy. its the piece that the track is anchored in and i cant just swap it out and im sure i cant just pick one up at the shop.

i ment there fine. all of the binding like this break so easily. all it is is the black plastic thing. you unscrew the binding take the black thing off and replace it with a new one if you still dont under stand ill show you pictures or something.

i had the same problem with the same bindings, all i did was take another plastic piece from a different binding set and swap it out, worked fine

you can take the heel tray out of that piece to replace it with a new one. also, when your shop remounts them, make sure they quick grip the heel when they mount it, otherwise the screws don't bite into the tray, putting all the stress on the plastic piece, giving you the same problem all over again.

i did the same thing to a pair of 914s and yeah i just took the bindings off and gorrilla glued them and then clamped the plastic real tight by wrapping it with electrical tape to prevent the glue from pushing the cracks wider, and i use them on my jib skis. It should work ok, maybe even throw some glue in the holes too if you can't really drill them anymore anyway.

yeah, the black plastic piece is integragted into the rest of the heel piece and can't be replaced. I tried for quite sometime to find a way to replace it.

you can get the same bindings as long as they have the same hole pattern, then put in a helicoil (not needed) and some wood glue and they're good as new

haha, yeah, these have taken a beating though, but im in the process of ordering my new setup,

rossignol brigades with rossignol SAS2 140 ti's

should hold up better

I have had like 10 pairs of 912's/914's over the years and that always ends up happening, especially if it's cold (below zero) and you are still jumping. Fill it with as much epoxy as you can let it sit 24 hours and you will be golden until you straight explode the plastic.

The STH line reinforced this design flaw with metal mounting spots for the screws.

check the warrantie I got the same problem and they remplace it for free

very good BINGING warrantie from salomon

they are not screwed. that style salomon binding just sucks. your shop might have some replacements for that part. if not ask me and i can pick some up for you at my shop because i know they have them there.

yeah you are fucked. I did the same thing to my bindings. as soon as the plastic broke i ended up bending the metal heel plate on a rail. i needed whole new bindings. in your case i would just go with the whole new setup

i did that last week to mine. just go to a local shop and see if they have any parts for sale or free either way, they're fixable

what are you guys talking about?! all you need to do is go to your local shop and ask em if they have a new rear plastic piece. cost ya maybe 10 bucks.

that is, unless you have messed up other components of the binding.

That has happened to 2 pairs of my own Salomon bindings, my brother's Salomon bindings and at least 3 other people that I know. I got my first pair warrantied twice but then just gave up because they are such pieces of shit. The other people I mentioned just got different bindings. (it happened to S912 and S810tis, z10s, z12s and 914s.)

oh, and if you get that fixed, it is possible to remount in the same holes. my shop did it twice with no adverse effects.

yes your bindings are fucked. Dont ride them
I got the same bindings, (z12 ti) and i busted them a couple of weeks ago. Do not ski them, you will fuck it up even more

my advice, don't ski them if you don't want to get hurt. i did a small drop first time out with used bindings i traded for a case of beer, the heal piece blew and i was on my face before i knew it with a dislocated thumb. from now on, i inspect my gear all the time, bindings being the most important, and cracks like don't look safe,

peace
