Do you realize now that while that whole no federal tax thing sounded nice, it wouldn't have really worked had he been elected? While I don't like our taxes going to a bunch of companies that fucked up, if we would not have helped them out of this, they would have all gone under, bringing our economy with them. Sorry that I kind of sound cocky, but really, how do you think his ideas would have worked at all in our current situation? And that is not a rhetorical question, I want to hear what you people, Paul supporters and loathers alike, think about this.

No, see, Ron Paul was not a realist, he thought that fairy tales could be real. he didn't want to lower taxes, he wanted to get rid of the IRS altogether.

You of course realize how mind-bogglingly stupid this idea is when you're trying to get people to spend money to revitalize the economy, right?

oh yeah, take a gander at this, he was defending the governer of texas who was talking about how if things kept happening like this seccesion may be an option. http://www.campaignforliberty.com/article.php?view=62

sounds nice when it is put like that, but if a state seceded every time they got pissed off at how the country was working, we wouldn't really be much of a country. The texas governer was throwing a tantrum and everybody knows it, but I think ron paul is defending him just to be different. He reminds me of the goth kids on south park who call everybody else conformists and are different for the sole sake of being different.

I believe that it is way more far fetched than anything obama has come up with to believe that we could survive as a country with a federal government as weak as ron paul would like

ayo I hope you know that spending money wont do shit to get out of a reccession... we need to change our economy to be more balanced to not rely on other countries.

(man wearing a trenchcoat in a back alley) Pssst... Hey man, you need groceries, I got potatoes, bread, eggs, milk, what do you need man?

i was thinking bigger items. but yeah.

shit i payed $30 in sales tax just on the last pair of skis i bought. i also payed over $100 in sales tax for a shit load of car work / parts.

Rofl, dude, What exactly is your point?

You know that old saying "There is more than one way to skin a cat!"

Well yea, that could be said for the financial mess we are in now....

pauls method would be equivalent to taking the cat and putting it in a blender. a big fucking mess

it hasnt really been proven yet, its too early to tell. but if you look at history, it could work out. i think its pretty blatantly obvious that what paul had in mind was just idiocy

Getting rid of the IRS wouldnt be a bad thing. The tax code needs rewritten without a doubt I dont think anyone can argue that.
So depending on how you did it getting rid of the IRS could be an option and a good one if it was written right. Or continue to use them but with a different tax code.
But the the bailout money has put us into a financial mess without a doubt.. if we will be able to get out of it smoothly or not is the question.
To the thread creator; why did we have to bail them out? We could have let them go under and some people suffer. Major car manufacturers go under then new ones will spring up. A couple hard years and then things turn around with a new company. I dont really think we should have done this because goverment intervention got us into this mess and alter the free market so the free market prolly couldnt have got us out of it on its own very efficeintly. But come on did we really need this much bail out... bankruptcy court is there for a reason.

ron paul was a fucking idiot. anyone who actually believed in him is a fucking idiot as well. dont vote ever, please.

Don't give me that Rowen, I was just thinking about ron paul today and I remembered how the ron paul threads got almost as frequent and obnoxious as the 9/11 conspiracy threads. I think I deserve at least 1 thread saying that in the situation we are in, most of his ideas would be entirley impossible. I have yet to have full reason to believe that it could work in any condition that this country would be in, but I find it especially hard to believe that they would work in a time like this.
